No Sturridge

Or even worse no Agbonlahor Neutral

That said i've never heard anybody agree with Capello's squad selection.

Its hard finding a place for Gerrard or Lampard cause I doubt Capello will play without a targetman. I would go with this though:

Hart
Walker Ferdinand Terry Cole
Parker Wilshere
Walcott Gerrard Young
Rooney

Pretty much this except for Sturridge in place of Walcott and Gerrard/Lampard for Cleverley.

Those two will never play well for England as long as Rooney keeps dropping into the spaces they usually occupy.

will agree with brazil and argentina being crap right now.

But not italy we have come on in leaps and bounds since the world cup, dnt think england can really say the same.

Espc when the coach after 3 years still doesnt have a preffered line up.

Italy shouldve of beaten germany and we beat spain, yes i know they were freindlies but still cant they dont count for anything.

I mean can u honestly england couldve done better

I saw the Spain friendly and they were very impressive but Spain were missing about 7 or 8 regulars in that game.

I mean Italy were comfortably beaten by Ireland (ffs) not too long ago.

I gave up on England when he gave Terry's captaincy to Ferdinadnd.

I further gave up on then after Terry and Capello had it out during the World Cup .

TBH this is all a lie , I gave up on them when they failed to qualify for Euro 08 with one of the most talented teams ever assembled.

England isn't deserving of a thread , all they are deserving of is a  .

Really was ffs needed lol its like everyone has to add that in there post here.

Movin on i didnt say were the best in the world now what i was pointing is that we have improved a hell of a lot since prandelli came in and if u look at the international players in serie a most of italys regulars are really improving and having good seasons so far.

So my point is out of the teams stated of brazil argentina engalnd and italy.

Italy have improved a lottttt !!

Brazil and argentina wont comment on but u cant has really improved can you?

Cappello has no idea what his preffered line up will be, he is selecting players that arent good enough and never will be and leavin quality players at home.

Im sorry im not tryin bag out england here but right now its up in the air with u guys, no one can really say use have improved or digressed.

Where as its clear italy improved a lot with prandelli at the helm.

Hope u get what i mean

sepi, the difference is, those young players have quickly settled to the pressure of playing for a big club and have performed very well this season.

Carroll is just Peter Crouch with a pony tail. Plus he cost 35 mill just so he can win the ball in the air.

Those players never had to be under the burden of a 35 mil price tag. Those players are playing to their strengths while Carroll is clearly not. Those players also were not ridden by injuries like Carroll has twice. No Technique? See him play more.

I saw the Spain friendly and they were very impressive but Spain were missing about 7 or 8 regulars in that game.

I mean Italy were comfortably beaten by Ireland (ffs) not too long ago.

They only had Xavi and Puyol missing. Not 7-8 gil.

Do I have to mention the player Italia had missing?

The win was justified as both players had key players missing yet Italia outplayed them.

Ireland? Italia suck at friendlies, and played a completely different formation and players who never had chemistry with each other (from lack of playing with each other) as the match was confirmed as experimentation by Prandelli, which is why he received little criticism due to his intention.

Plus the trap is their manager. Ireland is a good team.

And I have to agree, Capello's squad selection is worse then Lippi's for Italia.

Jones is 19, Carroll is 22 is the difference.... still learning and plays beyond his years in one of the best teams in Europe, mistakes will happen a long the way, still about 3-4 years away from his "prime years" and plays the way he does

The only thing Jones did by playing beyond years is making sure United defence which looked the best in Europe look vulnerable.

They already conceded more goals in one game against this year than they did in whole group stage last year.Just because he tries to become a Beckenbaur doesnt mask how poor he defended whenever opposition attacked United this season

Sturride deserves call up instead of Andy carrol.

Sturrides dynamism and dribbling will be a great asset to English NT.

While Andy has been really average so far.Performance wise.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. Phil Jones will be an immense defender in the future and is very very good on the ball but his defending is extremely overrated. His positioning is beyond awful and it's been exposed by the likes of Norwich, Chelsea, Basel etc in recent weeks. His recovery pace is excellent though and teams haven't been taking their chances against United so he's still the media darling for now.

I honestly think Suarez will eat him for breakfast when United go to Anfield in a few weeks time.

They are different type of strikers and not competitors though.I dont think Carroll will start for England atm and will be more like a impact sub with his physical presence and heading ability. He will be lot more effective if England are chasing games and his only realistic competitor is Crouch.Agree Sturridge deserves a call up dont think Carroll form or performance has anything to do with it.

Great point.

As I said, Carroll isn't using Sturridge's place.

It's all about having different type of options.

As for strikers, it's always Rooney + Big Striker + Poacher + Dynamic striker in 4-4-2.

It used to be Rooney, Crouch, Bent, Defoe.

Andy has taken up Crouch's position which is obvious since he is 10 years older and with much much more potential, Welbeck has been in Defoe's position...while that 5th spot has gone to Zamora ahead of Sturridge which is strange.

As for Suarez vs Jones... since Suarez will arrive back from South America on thursday morning, and game is on Saturday tea-time KO, so hopefully he won't be exhausted. Sad

Why does England even need a "target man", it hasn't brought them any success in recent years. 2 wide players, 1 poacher and Rooney sitting behind the poacher to distribute to wings/run the front.

I always wonder why try the same thing if it isn't working why do the same thing but if a target man is needed why not pick Crouch instead of Carroll.

Err may be because of the simple fact Carroll is the better player.Too hard to figure out for some i suppose.

Ofcourse world cups bought playing without a target man in 2002 and 2006 world cups bought them enormous success didnt they?

Carroll doesn't even play as targeteman in his club...He plays off of Suarez  ....some people don't even watch players play, but judge them based on their size, facial hair, and their WAGs.
