im looking for a performance chip so intel is out of the question. Im leening towards Nvidia but id go for an ATI that doesnt over heat
price in the $900 - $1,100 range
Memory 4 GBs and above
i7 maybe, or whatever is good

but my main concern is the brand, some makes just suck in gaming lappys whatever specs they dump into the system (acer) so im kinda hoping you share your personal experience with the main makers outhere

Gaming laptops that are able to handle the newest games out are $1,300 minimum.
Your budget is too low if you want a professional gaming laptop.
If you however want a laptop that is merely "good" at gaming and you would play most games in lower resolutions then I can't recommend any. I prefer ti shell out a couple hundred dollars for something I am comfortable with than be prudent. I use my laptop everyday about 6+ hours. Same with my glasses, I wouldn't mind what to pay for the glasses I like.

well you have a point there but im more of a casual gamer than a hardcore one. I run the laptop for long hours (hense the heating concern) and a play the odd game every now and then. I dont mind playing in lower resolutions really, as long as i get good FPS i dont mind how the thing looks like, so that in mind, the merely good laptop is exactly what im looking for Razz

Asus stands for affordable hardware at good quality Very Happy
I wouldn't recommend you something with godly specs that would die in the first 3 months from overheating Very Happy
Also, notebook vgas can't compare with PC ones Very Happy You have to be ready to sacrifice a lot of the quality simply for running a modern game flawlessly on a notebook, even the highend ones. I know it because my gamer notebook is like nothing compared to I-no's PC Very Happy

what type of gaming do you want to do.... my hp dv7t can play games like Black Ops, MOH.....

but playing like those really heat up your laptop.... so if you want a gaming laptop make sure you buy a cooler with it too,

btw i recommed you go with i5 then i7.... i7 heats up alot from what i learned when i bought my laptop...

and try this site

http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=32&name=Laptops-Notebooks

they stuff is cheap....

I'd go with the ASUS though seeing the pavilon you listed will most likely come with an intel integrated chipset.

so, what do you think ?

is that a dv6 or dv6t..... and what is the Graphics card on hp

btw i say buy the Hp one as you can get a better graphics card... but a lower CPU to i5 (which is alot too) for under $1000

you can customize on from one from hp site and get a but cheaper and probably find 10% or 20% coupons online HP dvt7

you can get a 2GB Radeon(TM) HD 6770M GDDR5 Graphics for hp dv6 vs the 1.5GB GDDR5 Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M.... both are around the same but The 6770 is newer and consumes less power than the 460

Yeah, agree with Babun 1000%. Also, a laptop isn't a place you should be using for heavy duty data storage. 500 GB is more than enough.

Another point is that the HP is limited to 1366x768. Sorry, but that's a bottleneck. If you want to game, it's at 1080p where you can easily max all games out with AA and AF up the ass. It'll look better than on any console. 8GB of RAM is overkill, but meh.

So the ASUS all the way.
