Re: Sad day for football
Ghaddafi wanted to buy an Italian club, wonder if all if the city apologists would support that club as much.
The Italian FA kept him out.
The Sheikh is not in the same boat as Ghaddafi, not even close. He is a playboy who is bored and City is his latest whore, he might like here and keep her as a concubine, or just throw her away when he had his fix. This is not his first adventure, and will not be his last.
And don't compare Madrid who turns up a profit to clubs that only register losses.
And those saying Ferguson spent are talking illogically, since City in one year became the third most spending club in England. Compared to Ferguson's dynasty.
As for Inter and Milan. The amount's Morrati Sr. and Berlu spent are not even a fraction of what City are spending. They looked for smart deals and unknown superstars and turned them into such. Morrati jr. is more foolish, but even he would sell to buy, instead of keeping an assortment of over-payed talent because they can't get rid f them.

Re: Sad day for football
stop being hypocritical, most of us are fans of big clubs that spend hundreds of millions to compete, the fact that city is getting its money from a stupid owner is not different than touring Asia to maximize on pre season ticket sales. Yes money is killing football, but everybody is guilty and not just City

Re: Sad day for football
Big difference between spending to get the player, and spending to get him to play.
RM & United & Inter etc spend to get the TRANSFER, the player comes because he wants to play for the biggest teams in the world, City spend to get the player to PLAY for THEM. They play for money, not the badge.
Also, it's funny how people disrespect the sheikh when they don't even know anything about him...

I see your point, but please dont call people racist. I am the farthest thing possible from racist to Arabs of all people, who we regard as brothers and do a lot of business with and helped them so much in this recent war.

Re: Sad day for football
All the money city spend still remains in football world so I don't see it as waste.
they dont go about buying private jets or building castles, they buy players from other football club, which is supposed to help the selling team financially in other word they are helping football.
