In Argentina, comparing people to icebergs is a huge insult. We cold them 'cold chests' (pecho frio) and it basically means you're a coward.

I'm sorry to hear that. But I can assure you, in German such a comparison has none such associations whatsoever. In fact, since Raúl plays for Schalke he is greatly cherished and very much loved in Germany, too, not just in Spain.
