Best tackler in the world for me and world class at CB and DM position. Kept Llorente in his pocket all game today, just another notch in the belt of great performances from him for Barcelona, he has also been one of our most consistent performers.

Seriously , when it compares to tackling.......no one even comes close to Allesandro Nesta.

I've lost count how many beautiful saves this guy has done in Barca. Best tackler par none.

Was the best DM in the world for here.

Still think we would have made CL Semis and gave Barca a real game in 08-09 had he not been suspended for first leg CL tie vs Chelsea.

He'll retire Puyol in my opinion, but he's a short-term answer not a long one (Muniesa).

So then what does that make Vermalen? Vermaelen is brilliant at tackling and as someone pointed out earlier, Nesta too. Mascherano best tackler in the world? I think that's a bit of a stretch. Though he may be a great tackler. Maybe we can say, one of the best in the world?

Higher than Busquets. Its really a shame that in a full strength Barca squad, hes benched for Busquets. In an unbiased team, he would start over Busquets any day. I personally consider Masch, DDR, and Vidal the best DMs in the word right now. (I dont consider Schweinsteiger to be a DM btw).

He has superb positioning and is one of the best tacklers in the world.

However I think he is fairly overrated as a "complete" DM/CB. I have heard commentators say:

1) He is so comfortable on the ball. He is not.

2) He can pick a pass as well. No he can't, his passing is rubbish.

But all in all, he is one of the best at what he does.
