I cracked my TV's screen, and I'm looking at this as an opportunity to up my gaming/movie experience.

Currently I have a 32 inch Insignia, 720p..the specs are pretty mediocre but it was cheap and really did its job. I'm looking to upgrade to a 40+ inch tv..or a projector. I don't really know how projectors work..but I could dedicate an entire basement to it if I was to buy a projector + screen..and that would be awesome. My very own man cave Very Happy

But from what I've been able to pick up from the internet..a projector needs bulbs constantly replaced, and that's weak. Secondly, not all of em support 1080p ? I'm not really sure..and I'm hoping one of you have some kinda expertise that you'd be willing to share. I'm really in need and I'd be grateful for any help, as I have a shitload of gaming to do before my exams start.

It's basically a question of projector vs tv..with cost and convenience in mind. For example : a projector would be more expensive ?..but it'd be cheaper to get delivered. And that opens a wealth of online opportunities.

p.s : My budget is around 600 CAD. I looked up online options like ebay, but delivery charges would just screw me over. For Tv's anyway.

I'm sure most of you are tv owners..so I'm not expecting much feedback. Any advice would be more than appreciated

Dude, I had a projector and it was sweet. It was about 4 years ago and it was HD (it was around the time that DLP was coming out). It all depends on how much you plan on using the projector; I was unemployed/depressed and playing video games like there was no tomorrow. Last I checked bulbs worked for about 3000 hours and they cost 300 a piece. This is why I would recommend an HDTV; I currently have a 42 inch plasma (I know some think LED is the way to go) and I've had it for like 3 years. You can get really good deals for TVs these days and I'm sure with a little research you will find something for a nice price.

You're right. In the end, the whole replacing bulbs thing is a dealbreaker for me. I really can't put a number of how many hours I spend watching movies and playing games, so I'd rather not think about it.

Looks like my best option right now is a 50 inch used HD TV. This model to be specific : http://www.amazon.com/LG-50PK550-50-Inch-1080p-Plasma/dp/B0037BQJPE

Getting it for around 480. The Tv model is fairly old, and the guy said he's owned it for like a year..but its still a 50inch plasma..and I don't think I'm going to get better deals.

Lemme know if I'm getting hustled ! Probably buying it within the next two days, since I still haven't unwrapped skyrim and UC3. Games r just lying there..mocking me...

TVs are just so awesome nowadays. HD porn, you can use it as a computer monitor, big assed and very cheap, don't require much maintenance, can run all day long and no overheating issues or burnt bulbs, etc...

That TV you have there should be awesome, get it.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I really needed someone (other than my gf) to encourage this buy. Rest assured, pictures shall be posted as soon as I escape from this world of high def wonder.

That 50" looks badass. I just ordered a TV through Amazon to replace my 42" 720p Sharp Aquos(tax refund  early b-day present for myself). Not quite 50" but it should be enough. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN46D6000-46-Inch-1080p-Black/dp/B004NB13KI/
