Cissokho confirms Juve meeting

Juventus have a deal for Martin Caceres, but Aly Cissokho’s agent confirmed he “will meet with Juve on Friday.”

They secured one full-back today by agreeing terms with Sevilla for Caceres, though that does not appear to be the end of their January spending spree.

“Cissokho has a contract until 2014. Lyon proposed a two-year renewal, but we did not accept because he wants a change of scenery,” Ali Barat told Calciomercato.it.

“At the same time, Lyon have to sell, because they need fresh funds. I am here in Italy because I will meet with Juve on Friday.

“If Cissokho leaves in January, then it will be only for Juventus. In the summer we can open the doors to Manchester United, thanks to Evra’s injury.

“We recently received a €7m offer from Newcastle, but Lyon value him at €9m and we know Juve have more of a budget to spend.

“Juventus are a great team who play attacking football and Aly wants to play in the Champions League next season. Roma? At the moment they don’t have the resources.”

Cissokho came very close to joining Serie A a few years ago, when his transfer to Milan collapsed because a medical found problems with his teeth.

This would be a great signing. One of the best in a while.

What was the problem with his teeth in his medical with Milan? The problem was clearly enough to make Milan back away from the transfer.

I prefer Caceres for LB...he is the closest thing we will get to a Lichtsteiner on the left! He presses and fights for everyball...he has pace and stamina to boot! Perfect player for Conte! :shisha:

And he's already excelled at a big club (Lyon). Caceres has not been extraordinary with us.

I'm saying that as Caceras is already here. Buying Cissokho just means more money spent on a position already covered now. Plus Caceras can play LB, RB and CB if needed.

That's not necessarily a bad thing though. We would have depth both in attack, midfield and defense. It would mark an end to the days of Grygeras and Molinaros and Grossos as backups. A new top class LB and a defense man that can play anywhere in the backline...BOOM!

That money can be better spent on other positions if we get Caceras .
It's not like we have endless amount of money to burn
Once Caceras is here, a defensive bench option is no longer the biggest priority

Plus we have Bonucci and PDC Already on the bench. We don't even have bench space to have another defender there. PDC, Caceras and Chiellini is enough LB options to get us through without problems.

So Cissokho - no thank you.

I agree however the only other areas that require attention IMO are a vice pirlo and a WC forward because our finishing up front has been far from impressive in my eyes. The problem is bringing in a top forward would cost too much on top of the fact we are stacked with forwards. So I don't think they'll be reinforcing that department until the summer where we'll have more money to play with after offloading players. What I like about this link is the quality it gives us in rb/lb because it's something we've lacked for so long. De Ceglie has a history of injury and is also inconsistent. And we lack a proper back up god forbid lich gets injured. For the right price I'm all for this deal. It would ensure chiellini stays at cb where he belongs and adds quality depth at cb and rb. Most importantly we are fully covered and not totally f***ed should de Ceglie AND Lich pick up injuries. I'd hate to see us fall apart because of an injury situation at the back. Already happened with quags last season.

Does Cissokho even start for Lyon at LB? I have seen him play a few times last season and I don't think he is anything special...he looked amazing as a kid at Porto but I don't think he has developed into the top player people make him out to be :shisha:

Caceres suck at left back he is a central defender who plays a decent rightback but first of all he is central defender.

Cissokho therefore would be a good addition to compete with PDC on the left.

It really makes sense since Conte might start playing the 5-3-2 we saw against Roma

Cissokho has been playing almost every minute this year.

i think the problem with the medical was milan who tried to lower the price and therefor used that, to get out of the deal.

he has speed and a strong player maybe not a smart LB, but better than PDC i think, he is also quite experienced..

whilst I love Caceres like every other Bianconeri fan for his commitment and how he leaves his heart on the field, it cannot be ignored he is not world class, though he is good. He also will mean a lot of cards down our left lane if that is where is he most likely to feature. if you remember his first spell with us, he was adept to getting red cards. I hope he has grown as a player as I haven't really watched him much in his time at Sevilla.

But whoever would take Caceres over Cissokho must see a psychiatrist quickly.

ceceres got 1 red card(two yellow) at his first spell in juve and in the last two seasons with sevalla he got 0 red card.

i don't think that Caceres will be playing LB at juve, that is not his best position, first as a CB and then RB.

The card argument is stupid. Montero was one of the worst offenders but he was a beast I'd have back in a second. Caceras discipline has been excellent so far. Lich has worse discipline atm but I don't see you bagging him. What a stupid argument.

He's not a world class player but he's bloody good. His versatility is the key to his purchase. We need a versatile player who cover competantly right across the back line in times of need. all major teams have a few of these in their squad. We as yet, don't really have one yet in our backline.
