This isn't really a surprise. They have recorded the highest transfer fees and both have been player of year before. I wonder where Torres will appear in next year's list as his tranfer fee was close to the same range. I find this list more believeable than the salary list Milla put out yesterday. I wish they had a breakdown as to salary, bonus incentives and endorsements.

I'm suspecting that Milla's list had bonus incentives included, but still that still doesn't add up right to me.

Sportczy - there is a link to a US only list. If they were included CR7 would be 8th on list and Kaka 22nd.

It's interesting to see the correlation between how much gear a sport requires and the turnover in technology for the gear in that sport compared to endorsement money.

For example, golf requires you to buy stuff all the time and clubs always get better. You also get a lot of upside to having a golfer's name attached to a course, etc. Tennis too... rackets and clothes keep changing and kids want to keep up.

Not surprising that the golf and tennis players get such an outrageous amount of endorsements compared to the popularity of their sports.

It would be a bigger surprise if they weren't there.

Btw, this is a funny thing. Kaka's salary is about 10mil and he earns 19.07mil€ (27.3mil$). This means he gets 9.07mil from commercial deals. Real Madrid gets as much since we have a deal with big signings that we get 50% of their commercial deals. I don't know if players gets any cash from shirt sales so it can change things even more. So, he costs us 1mil per season at most, not a bad price for a player like him Wink

And same for CR. His yearly earnings are 27.1mil€ (38,8mil$) and his salary is around 12-13mil€. Total commercial cash is 14-15mil which means CR is pretty much free for us.

This is probably the thing Perez meant when he said expensive players are usually cheapest deals.
