The Three Lions - Page 2 Empty Re: The Three Lions

Would be happy with a draw tbh. We've got some good midfielders there but are desperately lacking a decent holding player, which I feel Brazil will exploit. I think we'll try and play a passing game as we have done under Hodgson after the Euro's but will ultimately fail to break Brazil down.

I think we'll line-up like this:

Hart

Johnson --- Cahill --- Jagielka --- Cole

Gerrard --- Lamaprd --- Wilshere

Walcott --- Rooney --- Milner

Hard to predict a couple of positions. I think Cleverley and possibly Carrick have decent shots at starting, but Gerrard is captain and Hodgson has been praising Lampard a lot this week, so I expect them to start. Wilshere, I hope, starts.

On the left, it could easily be Oxlade-Chamberlain or Lennon. Going with Milner since Hodgson seems to like him.

I wouldn't start Lampard in all honesty. Gerrard-Wilshere-Carrick looks good. If Lampard starts, there is no DM and even if Brazil are not at full strength, they are still good enough to walk through our midfield.

Carrick has been in great form and he is probably the most defensive of all in the current squad.

Really hope it's Oxlade instead of Milner. Oxlade will have a lot of space to run in because of the nature of Brazilian fullbacks.

Can't believe Henderson didn't get called up btw.

Johnson--Cahill-Jagielka-Cole
Milner--Lampard-Gerrard-Cleverley/Ox/Walcott

4-4-2 is possible, though we have played 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 since the Euro's. I'd play Carrick-Gerrard-Wilshere, as Carrick is the only decent deep lying midfielder we have, but Hodgson has paired up Lamaprd and Gerrard before in a pivot with Cleverley as an AMC.

It'd be a shame for Wilshere not to play since his form is very good right now and he usually thrives in the big games.

Wilshere should probably be England's most important player after Rooney but I think that Roy prefers both Lampard and Gerrard over him.Im pretty sure both of them will start too.

Both Wilshere and Walcott should start but I have a feeling neither of them will

Is this a different hodgson to the one that selected wilshere just 120 minutes of playing time after his return? lol

I'm sure wilshere and Gerrard will play if fit, after that I would guess Carrick would be the holding midfielder. Btw I honestly prefer osman to clevs

So thoughts for the future of England ?

I would like to see a midfield of

----------------------Gerrard------------------------------
-----------Henderson----------Wilshere----------------

for the next game. But since it's a qualifier, i doubt Roy would experiment.

I don't think Welbeck offers anthing from the Left wing apart from the work rate. Sturridge/Oxlade surely would be better there. But Young is Roy's favourite player so he will probably start ?

-----------------Wilshere----------Gerrard----------------

if Carrick does start

Being captain shouldn't be a reason a player starts imo. Also I think Wilshere has better potential than Gerrard in terms of England's future.

I am talking about atm. Gerrard has been our best player since the Euros. Hopefully that stays till the WC. He is better than any other midfielder for england

Think Gerrard can keep up till the WC14. His new role doesn't require him to make runs for example

For the future. It's hard to say. There are quite few under 21s who are talented. Even in the under 19 ranks.

Personally hoping for Will Hughes to step up like jack did. But we do need a defensive player and there is no one talented enough anywhere for that.

I'm hoping Bigirimana chooses England tbh, he reminds me so much of Carrick but a lot more mobile and a lot more comfortable at being pressed.

He would be the defensive player we cry out for although he has a lot more to game than that as he showed in games this season.

If we miss out on another midfield talent No but hey at least i can support him no matter what Very Happy

Burundian but lived in England since he was a child and is eligible to play for England should he choose to, RG he hasn't chosen anyone yet but it seems more likely at the moment he will choose Rwanda yes.

I'm being a bit greedy here tbh because its probably right and proper for him to pick them but i would love it if he played for England.
