Here Allen is playing the exact role of Lucas. . & to be honest had some super clearances . .

It's good to see Allen dropping deep to offer the CBs a passing option, and making some key tackles, but Pearce's side played a 4-4-2, not a 4-3-3. Allen wasn't acting as a CDM in that system, but as a CM in a midfield two. He didn't operate in the same role as Lucas does and will for us. That's not saying he CAN'T do so, just that that video doesn't show him doing it.

Well sorry if i got it wrong but it did seem he played the more deeper role amongst the defenders & really wasn't looking into the formation much more of was trying to understand his gameplay. It seemed OK

1) We better not loan out Carroll - either get 20m upfront or tell the other club to **** off. Sick of being exploited in every transfer window. It's sickening.

2) Red, Allen may have played in a 442 with GB but he did play under Rodgers in the 433 and can play Lucas' role. There's no worries there.

3) On the agreement... perhaps another club has made a bid or Allen has said he wants to leave? [Think Laudrup said something along these lines.]

4. Who the **** uses twitter to state that they've offered for a player? :lol!:

Allen didn't perform in the Lucas role in Rodgers Swansea side, though. We've discussed this and it's been pretty much verified that Britton played the holding role. AGAIN, this is not saying that Allen can't play in that role, just that the examples being used are not actually of him fulfilling that role.


Rodgers has already stated that loan offers for Carroll will not be entertained, so stop freaking out every time the media mention it.

I said he could play Lucas' role, not he was playing the Lucas role for Swansea. He has the attributes to do it and I'm certain he played in that role when Britton wasn't playing.

On a site note, if we buy or sell someone for an undisclosed fee, how does that go on the books regarding FFP?

The facepalm is just to show my utter disgust of this saga every Summer! I also agree with your sentiments if this comes to an end!

I hope this opens up space for Allen. I pray to god Adam be swapped for Dempsey or anyone else! ! The guy has picked up where he left off last season . . utterly DISGUSTING! !

Wee bit harsh on Adam there. He's certainly limited in what he can do but he's not a terrible player. I wouldn't complain if he were sold, as I've never really believed he had the necessary level to play for us regularly, but calling him disgusting seems a bit strong.

How is it honestly best for all parties?

Aquilani has stated he's happy.
His agent has said he's happy and wants to stay.
Rodgers says he fits into the style and is happy.

So it can't be anything about not being unsettled at the club.

Secondly, he's one of our best midfielders. If we persist on playing inferior players (likes of Adam and Spearing) and getting rid of the likes of Meireles and Aquilani we're not going to get anywhere any time soon.

Thirdly, if this about wages, we have people who aren't even first team who get massive wages. Why get rid of a player that actually improves the side and won't sit on the bench? The personell of Cole and Carragher say hello.

On a side note, I'm back to my normal sleeping patern, so I'll start making sense again.

Well see this sentiment arises from what i observed in the last two matches specially the last one. . We were constantly trying to thread a good passage of passes but somehow it always broke off in around the 8-10 pass & on most occasions it was Adam guilty of it. His long passes where . . . . i don't know how to describe it but considering he was one of the senior players on the field the sentiment was stronger!

The thing is, I could see Aquilani playing ahead of people, he's different from our other CM's and is someone who can control games.Adam on the other hand, I don't really see any reason for him to get playing ahead of Henderson,Shelvey, Allen if he comes...etc.

If this and the Aquilani reports are true, it would make me question everything I heard out of the club for the rest of the window. Carroll won't go on loan + Carroll fits my play + Carroll is happy staying here = Carroll leaves on loan; Aquilani is not leaving, Aquilani fits my plans, Aquilani is happy here = Aquilani sold. I understand things change as new facts arise, but it feels like Rodgers has now gone back on his word on quite a few things. I don't even necessarily hold it against him, it just means we can't rely on anything out of the club except for formal announcements.

Pacheco: not fancied for the first team by Rafa, Roy, Kenny, and now Rodgers... but yes, it's obviously a mistake by the club and managers, and those of us watching from tv at home know better.

When Rafa was here he was 18 !!! and he played for us and almost set up an assist for Kuyt to win the EL semi vs Atletico in extra time.

Roy played him as RW of 4-4-2....OMG ROY AND KENNY WERE SO SUCCESSFUL, ALL THEIR DECISION WERE RIGHT !!!

On US tour, he was easily our 2nd best offensive player after Shelvey.

I don't buy it....someone is calling the shots from upstairs, or Rodgers is indeed a phoney and a YES man, told to utilize the un-sellable guys on big wages like Cole and Downing.

Sepi your opinion knee jerks week in week out, it's hard to take anything you say seriously. If we have a good start to the season, I wouldn't bet against you hailing BR like he's Bill Shankly come again.

Nevertheless there are some points I agree with on from the other thread, but at the moment having patience is all we can do.

It's definitely sad to see Pacheco leave. (If there is any truth to the rumor) I can't help but wonder what our managers have seen that us fans just don't seem to realize. I thought he did well offensively this pre-season (albeit for 2 games). Perhaps there just isn't space for him at the club.
