FA Cup Final: Chelsea v Liverpool

An hour until kick-off and I saw no thread for this game. Maybe it's not a big deal to neutrals, then, but I sure am super-excited about it!!!

So here's a thread.

Unless funny stuff happens, I'm thinking it should be a low-scoring game.
1 - 1, with the greatest club on Earth to win on penalties.

A domestic cup double would save our season and help concentrate on next one.
Chelsea have had a somewhat similar season, not being where they want to be in the league, but have made it to both the FA cup final and the Champions League one. Losing both would be a bitter pill to swallow...

The Reds team in full is: Reina, Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Enrique, Gerrard, Spearing, Henderson, Downing, Bellamy, Suarez.

Subs: Carroll, Maxi, Kuyt, Carragher, Doni, Shelvey, Kelly.

Aensensen, I thought you were Norwegian, but Mexico? Oh well.

I don't know our XI yet, but Carroll is not starting. Looks like a midfield battle, then. Was kinda hoping to see Carroll and Suarez up front, Carrolls lay-off game has been superb. Gerrard should start.

Liverpool line-up: Reina, Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Enrique, Gerrard, Spearing, Henderson, Downing, Bellamy, Suarez.

Subs: Carroll, Maxi, Kuyt, Carragher, Doni, Shelvey, Kelly.

Hoping that's a 4-2-3-1 rather than a 4-4-2.

(Henry Winter): Two most expensive players in country on bench....Torres Â£50m and Carroll Â£35m. Those aren't benches, those are chaise longues from Harrods

Given Chelsea's central defensive pairing of Ivanovic and Terry it's understandable the the pace and guile of Bellamy and Suarez was favoured over Carroll, I think. Still feel a bit disappointed for Andy, though.

I don't think it'll come down to pace getting past the Chelsea defence. Plus Suarez isn't even that fast, imo. But Bellers and Suarez could link up well.

But Carroll will come on from the bench and score, I can feel it!

How epic would it be, if both Torres and Carroll would come on from the bench to score and it'd end 1 - 1 and go to penalties where 5th shooters would be Gerrard and Lampard and only one of them would score? Hrrr

Hence I said pace AND guile. Suarez's movement running in behind and along the backline can pull defenders out of position allowing Gerrard and Bellamy to exploit those spaces with their own runs.

I'd hope so, but sadly Gerrard's best days seem to be behind him. I think it'll be someone like Downing who'll be making those potentially goal-scoring runs into space. Stevie just isn't at his sharpest...

Liverpool have no midfield, they're just conceding possession to Chelsea. Spearing simply isn't capable of playing at this level, Henderson is a passenger, it's always sideways passing, and for a £20m winger, Downing is afraid to take on the fullback.

With Gerrard having to play deep Suarez is left really isolated too. It's looking like Chelsea's to lose
