Ozil was better this year. Xaviesta weren't at their best this season. However Xavi has past it imo.

Özil is better than Kroos at keeping the ball IMO.

He rarely loses it... In fact, I think I saw a stat on twitter that Özil has the highest % in the final third. That's insane if true.

Rubbish.... he was better last season but that was mainly due because Pep did his usual every 2 year idiotic move of placing Iniesta on the wing when its clear he isnt effective there, but the season before he was far superior.

I think in the Bayern game, Kroos surely showed how great he can be and is at least comparable to Ozil.

Iniesta is superior to both, this season, last season, next season, every damn season lol..but he isnt a number 10.

So you have never seen an AM that roams around?

some players are celebrated for their ability to roam around, drop deep to find space, but when it's ozil, obviously he is running away from Busquets

Iniesta is a CM, its not fair to compare him to Özil.

Özil wins hands down. While Kroos excells at other aspects of the game he's got a clear weakness: he is very dependend on the his front 3 to perform well because he doesn't move with the ball a lot. He is kinda slow. He also can't run counters by himself, he has to wait for faster people with the ball like Robbery to carry on. Müller does on counters way better than him.
Özil is dangerous from every part of the pitch and can't be left alone. His runs make the defensive formations go nuts because of his pace. His ball keeping skills are top notch. If he improves his shooting, Kroos wouldn't have anythin over him anymore.

How's Iniesta a CM but Kroos an AM? Because on paper Kroos deployed as AM in Bayern 4-2-3-1 which in real life looked much closer to 4-3-3 anyway? Attribute wise though Iniesta much more closer to AM than Kroos.

Also, dictating the attacking flows /= dictating the midfield. Ribery is the one that control most of Bayern attacking flows even when Kroos in as AM in their 4-2-3-1. Kroos edges many AMs in some attributes that while it's always good to be more complete but I personally don't consider most of them as a must have for AM while he's lacking in the must have areas (mobility in tight space, quick anticipation to make a move/difference in final third). When I want to rely on my AM to break the defense and handle most of the play in final third (which is probably the most case you need an AM for), from Bundesliga alone I will pick guys like Kagawa (best AM in Bundesliga by quite a margin) ahead of Kroos. For Bayern tactical purpose though, so long as they have Ribery to do some of the AM duties from the wing maybe Kroos or any other good CM/AM hybrid is indeed a better choice.

On topic, I think Kagawa deserves a mention as one of the best for performing as AM at high level for 2 seasons in a row now, one of key players for Dortmund's success, just need to prove it in Europe/CL and he's undoubtedly up there.

Ozil is better than kroos as a CAM,Kroos is a CM IMO. Kroos' decision making & speed in General are Slow.

Which is why I feel he is more suited as CM. Iniesta would be my obvious choice with Ozil. Sneijder can still bounce back.

Does Silva play CAM with City???If he does I would put Silva above Iniesta & Ozil.

I agree with basically everything Sushi said, except that I draw different conclusions: I prefer Özil over Kroos. More of a direct threat, they both have their merits, but Özils strenghts mean he has to be permanently marked, not just blocked, this causes much more disarray in defenses, and I like that. Creates space, and tons of chances. The awesome part about the German NT is that Müller and Klose do the same.

So:
Özil for me, this season.

Its between Ozil and Kroos in my opinion. And like someone else already said, it depends on which style of.play this team will play. Kroos would be better in a possession based side but Ozil would be better in a counterattacking side. Also, the real question is, would it be better with Ozil/Kroos as the AM behind Messi, or Messi as the AM behind Gomez? Thats a tough one.
