The Manchester United and France full-back called 1998 World Cup winner Bixente Lizarazu and three other commentators "tramps" on French TV.

Evra, 32, accused them of deliberately trying to tarnish his reputation.

"People have a good impression of me, it won't be these tramps who dirty my image," Evra said.

"There are some pundits with whom I will soon settle my differences with. They want to sell a lie to the French people that Evra is disliked. But that is not the case at all.

The fact that he is comparing himself with Lizerazu is downright hilarious. He isn't 1/3 of the LB Lizerazu was.

To be fair to Evra, french journalists have been engaged in a campaign of character assassination ever since 2010.  It still goes on now, even though nobody cares about WC 2010 events much anymore.

So he just lost it and decided to dish some crap back to them.  Don't think the timing was good or the content accurate/necessary...  but the french media deserved it imo.  

No fan of Evra's.... but if the media are going to treat him this way, they should treat Ribery, Malouda and Abidal the same way too, which they don't.  Lloris and Sagna were on that team too.

Must have been something really bad though to provoke such an action but still, Evra is like 36 and cannot lose it like that. I thought he was get punished but to be fired seem a bit much...
