Re: Redknapp Leaves Spurs
This is too good.
Am I too late to join you in celebrating, Mole?
And, I'm honestly happy for Moyes too. I have respect for him, even though he is Everton's manager. He's done well under a VERY tight budget. Moreover, I can't see Everton getting anyone that can replicate his consistent miracles of overachieving with what is a worse side each year on paper.

For my money, it's got to be a toss-up between the two bull-dogs, with 'Arry solidly in 3rd.

Whelan already saying Spurs have been in contact over Martinez.
Paul Tyrrell is Everton's Director of Communications currently.
From TINA.Ian Abrahams @Moose_talkSPORT
It is my understanding Spurs maay have already met with David Moyes today and that Moyes compensation has been agreed with Everton FC
1h Paul Tyrrell @TyrrellPaul
@Moose_talkSPORT this is an absolute lie Ian. I expected better from you. If you repeat it, you can expect legal action from EFC.

@TyrrellPaul ok Paul sorry and I withdraw it

A lot of people are going to be deceived if Tottenham's new manager actually goes and does significantly worse than Harry...
But that must be unlikely!

Given that Adebayor is back at Manchester City while Bale, Modric, and VdV are basically even odds to follow Harry out the door your sarcasm seems misplaced.Art Morte wrote:A lot of people are going to be deceived if Tottenham's new manager actually goes and does significantly worse than Harry...

Re: Redknapp Leaves Spurs
You can't blame Levy for the decision. The way Redknapp reacted when he knew the England job was available was shockingly arrogant, and the team's performances deteriorated after that. Remember, Tottenham had a 10 point lead, and were fourth, in February. Only Redknapp can be blamed because of the negative effect this whole saga had on the players and the manager. Also, his tactics come into question. He constantly played 4-4-2 because he was stubborn, it had its flaws, of course. On the other hand, this could be the wrong decision, to a very limited extent. Stars like Bale, Modric, and vdV will want to move on now, considering that there is no stability, and more importantly - there is no Champions League football.

Re: Redknapp Leaves Spurs
As much as I dislike 'Arry, he did a lot of things correctly for Tottenham. Over the past few years he's gotten them to the Champions League once, and by all rights should have gotten them in again this season. He's done well by the club, but it always had the feeling of being short-term success. You got the feeling he was always trying to make the move to put them over the edge, not to secure their quality in the future. He was never shy about making a near-sighted signing to push toward a result this season, regardless of any future contribution. Examples include Brad Friedel, Louis Saha, Scott Parker, Steven Pienaar, Emanuel Adebayor and William Gallas. That's not to say that they didn't contribute, and weren't good signings. They merely weren't signings with a view to the future. All were signed later on in their career (or on loan in Adebayor's case), meaning they are either in their peak or already past it.
This doesn't mean that Spurs are automatically going to suck next season. However, it does leave a lot of work for the new manager if he wants to keep the club where they are. Tottenham will need a striker, central defender, defensively inclined midfielder, central defender, and a goalkeeper in the near future. That is assuming they keep all of their star players from last season (barring Adebayor's return to Man City at the end of his loan deal). With Bale, Modric and van der Vaart likely to leave following 'Arry's departure and a lack of Champion's League football, Totenham could be looking to replace as many as 8 of their starting IX from 2011-2012 in the next few years. It's not impossible to keep Tottenham challenging at the level they have been, but it's going to take a considerable effort on the part of the new manager.
