Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread Pt. 5
Maurizio Zamparini has conceded that Federico Balzaretti is keen on a move to Roma, but the Olimpico side will have to improve their bid if they are to lure the Italy international away from Palermo.
The 30-year-old has also attracted the interest of clubs such as AC Milan, Juventus and Napoli, with the Partenopei having made a €5 million offer, but Balzaretti supposedly prefers a transfer to the Giallorossi.
"Roma's interest is the most intense, and Federico has told me that he would find it fantastic to live in Rome," the Palermo president stated to Radio Radio.
"However, they will have to improve their offer and, at least, match what Napoli are willing to pay. That means they would have to table a €5m bid without the inclusion of any players.
"Juventus have also stepped forward, while Milan are looking for another [Antonio] Nocerino-like deal. That won't happen, though. Balzaretti is not Nocerino. We'll see what happens."
Balzaretti is contracted to Palermo until June 2013.

Modric to Madrid almost done?
TOTTENHAM last night agreed a £36million fee with Real Madrid for Luka Modric.
The Croatia midfielder had already said he would join Jose Mourinho’s side but was waiting for the clubs to reach a deal.
He almost ruined his chances of a move by refusing to go on Spurs’ pre-season tour.
But Real officials persuaded him to apologise and return.
Madrid were reluctant to meet Spurs’ valuation but Mourinho wanted Modric as soon as possible.
The deal will bring an end to a saga which began when the 26-year-old demanded a move to Chelsea a year ago.
Spurs refused but accepted he would move on this summer.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread Pt. 5
Julio Cesar is reportedly prepared to terminate his contract with Inter so that he can join Roma on a free transfer.
The goalkeeper is not a part of the Nerazzurri’s plans for this season and was dropped from the UEFA squad list for the Europa League preliminary round against Hajduk Split.
Julio Cesar has long been linked with a move to Roma, but his wages on top of a transfer fee are proving to be a problem.
According to Sky Sport Italia, negotiations are currently underway between his agents and Inter to agree a mutual termination of the contract.
It’s a similar deal to the one that saw Lucio leave the Nerazzurri to join Juventus on a free transfer.
On paper this may seem like a bad deal for Inter, but the weight of their wages surpass any transfer fee that would come in.

Yeah for some reason, he doesn't seem to fancy Stek. Or at least he gives off that impression. Curci did just leave so we're looking for a backup, but I don't think we can have 2 starting NT goalkeepers in our ranks though Lobont is also Romania's number 1 as well.

Thats pretty pathetic from Zeman..Seriously foreign players should avoid coming to Serie A if they get treatment like this..What wrong has he done to be snubbed anyway ?

Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread Pt. 5
Save percentage is a very silly way of looking at GK's personally but in any case i dont rate Stek anywhere near as high as most people.
And no it's not because him being here means Krul is'nt given a chance for Holland lol.
Having said that i'm not sure this Cesar is any better and i say that because i don't feel he is the same keeper and been suffering with back injuries since Inter's treble success and i don't feel he's the same keeper.

He got sent off just twice(i think) and one was pretty unfair..
He's pretty good GK ,good enough for Roma anyways and its just silly to discard him like that..

Stuttgart director Jochen Schneider says the club are considering offering midfielder Christian Gentner a new deal.
The 26-year-old, who scored five goals in 28 league games last season, is out of contract at the Bundesliga club next summer.
Schneider says Stuttgart could offer him a fresh deal but only when the time is right.
He told kicker-Sportmagazin: "Christian Gentner is under contract with our club.
"We are feeling fine with him being part of our club and he likes being part of our club, too. Talks over a new deal could start at an appropriate time."
Gentner, who re-joined the club from Wolfsburg in 2010 after leaving three years earlier, added: "I am actually fully focused on pre-season. I like to grab a first-team role.
"I am under contract at VfB Stuttgart and I like it. From my point of view there is no need to hurry into a new deal."

Jurgen Klopp:
"Have we got any other signings planned? No, as things stand we'll be going into the new season with the current squad," Klopp stated to Uefa.com.
