Who has the best Final ball in Football?

Not talking about players who pad their stats with set-pieces (although they are a vital part of the game) but in open play only.

Is there a website that accumulates data for through balls/clear cut chances per game?

My own eyes tell me Mata, Messi, Ozil, Pirlo & Cesc are probably the best in the World in that particular skill with the likes of Ibra, Totti, Iniesta, Cazorla etc just in a tier behind them.

Are there any stats out there that can back that up?

The best is still Xavi, but he plays a different role now, deeper...and Messi is the guy who makes these passes.

Ozil is the best atm followed by Messi. Xavi would be the best, but he isn't the same player he was in 2008-2010.

If "The Best Final Ball In Football" means the most accurate then I don't know how Özil and Messi are the best. They probably get the most but they also attempt the most and miss most of their attempted final balls.

Messi makes the most daring and ridiculous throughballs there is, and he makes most of them. So he's easily the best at it.

Messi has more through balls than Ozil because the whole Barca team play to make him better, and that's a fact. Ozil makes the others better. Messi is a better dribbler, finisher, faster... but Ozil edges him in passing, vision.

Messi's stats are not real. i mean it isn't fair to Compare others to Messi.

Messi is in center of everything. Pedro gets the ball ==> one two with messi
Cesc gets the ball == > one two with messi
Alexis gets the ball == > one two with messi
etc......

and btw his playing time is twice as players like Ozil probably.

These are couple that happened this season only, show me anyone who makes final balls like this with the same frequency.

I sinceerly hope you are joking when you say Messi looks "better because of the system" as this logic and myth has long been dispelled.

And no, Messi does not have inferior vision and passing to Oezil. Not even close. Want examples? See Messi of 2010, Messi with Argentina.

It's Messi imo. Xavi is better at it though, but he doesn't show it enough to be classified as the best atm.

Honestly it's between Messi and Xavi. Don't see anyone else getting close to those two.

I dont watch alot of Real Madrid/Germany games anymore, so can anyone tell me what position Oezil plays? I always thought that he played in the center as well...


^ 2 of those are not throughballs but crosses. Still final ball, but it does not count as a throughball. And honestly the last one is only nice, admittedly very nice, just because its a backheel pass but the pass in it self wasnt really that impressive. I think that in that pass it shows his great technique rather than his ability to make a great throughball

Messi might have the more distance in his best ones. But Özil is just quicker and more accuare when he gets the opportunity. He has been a little bit inconsistant lately though.
