It's not his fault he's so much better than everyone else. He's obviously going to win it but it's not about being exciting anyway. Its about the the best player getting rewarded for being the best.

If Ronaldo or Iniesta wins it, it won't be exciting as everyone will know Messi should have won it...

No mention of the ballon d'or either in the big spanish newspapers as of now...

it wasnt messi making it boring for me. it became boring the moment sneijder didnt win it. at that moment it suddenly didnt become the player who had the best season (which is exciting to me, makes it more variable who wins it) it became the award for the best player regardless of how that player did, which means messi is going to win it until hes at least 28.

how about an objective board of credible and reliable sources that are voted in.

or just go back to the way they used to do it, before it merged with FIFA player of the year award, with journalists.. at least it was more objective.

Yeah the Balon d'or has been boring for quite some time. I have said like many others you need a seperate award for different positions on the pitch. Comparing a striker to a GK is a big joke you might as well merge Football and Golf and have Messi compete with Tiger Woods for the Balon fkn d'olfclub. Goalscorers will win it 9/10 times and a goalkeeper has a snowballs chance in Hell.

That being said a majority of the time Messi deserves it. the sneijder incident was annoying and you could make a case this year for Pirlo who really took Juventus to pre-calciopoli heights as a free transfer above 30.
But I don't think you could say that Messi in no way deserves it.

the ballon d'or was originally voted on by journalists im not making that up (its not like i ran the award and thats how i decided it should be chosen).

maybe if you read my post you would see what i actually thought would be a better option to managers and captains. but no, criticize me for how the award was picked originally. cool

I don't know about Sneijder. He was very important to that Inter side but I think Milito was at least just as important. Obviously he's got his part in the Dutch squad going for him as well, but I don't know.

Anyway, I think the way it is currently set up is def. the best way. What better way to judge a player than to have people who've actually played with and against these players decide who's best? Journalists are, well just journalists ffs.

You mean subjective award? The logic behind that, player who wasn't chosen the best player in neither UCL or Serie-A, nor was he the best player in the World Cup should win the best player in the world, is laughable. In what was he the best really?

Sneijder is the Inzaghi of midfielders. Does nothing for the majority of the game except pulling of 1 ridiculous Hollywood pass which is highlight-worthy and that's it. There are shitloads of players like that. Yaya Toure and Özil being some prominent ones who are capable of pulling off a bit of magic but keep on drifting in and out of games more often than not which is really a shit trade for a midfielder. Sneijder's World Cup has been totally exaggerated because of like 3 deflected goals and an own goal which was attributed to him. Zonal Marking had an article about that and didn't even include Sneijder in his World Cup XI.

His domestic season was also nothing special at all. In fact he missed 12 games in Serie A and in the 26 games he did play, he got subbed off 11 times. In the Copa Italia he missed the semi-final return leg against Fiorentina and got injured in the final after 4 minutes. He only played 3 games in that competition.

He was also definitely not the best player in the Champions League that season.

If anyone other than Messi deserved it in 2010 then it was Xavi. Have you seen the OPTA World Cup stats? No one created more goalscoring chances in a single World Cup than Xavi in 2010 bar Cruyff in 74. Together with his MOTM performance in the Bernabeu which secured Barcelona the title only late in mid April this would have been enough for many other players in non-Messi generations to win the Ballon d'Or. But yeah, unfortunately for others this is the Messi generation we live in.

Erm, I didnt criticise you and I didnt say journalists never voted before. I am saying that they shouldnt vote and going to it or going back to it is a very bad idea.
