A fresh Madrid side. Should be interesting. I think Madrid will will come out all guns blazing and win this big but Sociedad have been pretty good this season so they might make it difficult.

Defenders: Varane, Carvalho, Arbeloa, Llorente y Nacho.
Midfielders: Xabi Alonso, Khedira, Özil, Essien, Modric, Callejón, Di María y Kaká.
Forwards: Cristiano Ronaldo, Higuaín y Benzema.

Llorente according to the official site is a 19 year old defender who joined Real Madrid at the age of 9, he can play both centre-back and right back positions. He's said to add a lot of "balance" to the attack when he plays at right back. Good luck to him.

Will Casillas play?

If Casillas is not playing, I will never ever watch RM again...

Starting 11: Adan, Essien, Varane, Carvalho, Arbeloa, Alonso, Khedira, Callejon, Ozil, Ronaldo and Benzema.

Bench: Casillas, Kaka, Modric, Higuain, Di Maria, Nacho and Llorente.

I guess Mourinho is trying to make a statement.

I mean how many time had Ronaldo hit a slump, how many times did his freekicks not even come close, and yet he always played.

If this a coachin decision I would like to at least expect consistency on who gets bench.

To me it seams like Mou is playing his mind games, just this time they are directed towards its own team and fans. He knows that 16 points are huge and probably unsurmountable, so he has written la liga off. But he does not want people to attack him for something that he cannot defend himself, so he creates another problem, that will cover the previous one in which he can defend himself. He is doing "Wag the dog" movie!

ok casillas saga aside. we are in this situation whether we like it or not.

we need to win this game.

bring on di maria for benzema let him an ronaldo interchange and play as the main striker.

his speed will cause problems for sociedad. plus he has the stamina to track back as well.

Casillas has looked ordinary the whole of this season, wouldn't be surprised to see him benched more often. On a more serious note we need a new right back, Arbeloa and Essien are poor and against a good opposition they could really cost the team.

Men of the match were Carvalho and Ronaldo, they showed a lot of passion even when the odds were against the team. The defense really needs a massive shake-up.

mourinho is trying to motivate casillas and get his mindset right for the important games coming up. but when your backup goal keeper is obviously incompetent at his job. you will lose.

khedira. i love his energy. his positioning. but he just needs to work on his composure in the box. yes he isnt a striker, but he can become a great box to box, all round midfielder if he works on this part of his game.

He has a bad first touch too. In rest he's a very good player

Marcelo can't return to full fitness soon enough, our full backs today offered nothing in attack, Carvalho made more overlapping runs than Arbeloa and Essien today!

On the Casillas issue, it's clear he's not in the best of shapes his body language is even worse, he looks so hopeless, maybe his time as the undisputed number one is over.

He didn't cover himself in glory today, he committed exactly the same mistake Adan made a few minutes after coming on but was saved by some poor finishing from Sociedad.

I'd rotate between him and Adan, I wouldn't be very confident if he starts against United, we'd have to score 4 goals to win against them like it happened today, luckily their defense is as bad as ours.

I’m surprised to hear Madrid fans frustrated with Essien’s inability to provide as a RB.

He's not all that bad, he just doesn't provide much attacking wise.
