Re: Summer Signings
Oh didnt think of Sturridge... so if Neymar comes in, we are going to play 4-3-3 eh? Maybe Aguero can play 4-3-3 as well... I dunno man, its complicated
Re: Summer Signings
exactly Aguero has no place on the squad.
I think Aguero to Chelsea is just papertalk, don't think we changed our mind about paying his wages, especially after buying Torres for 50m. So no chance Aguero plays for Chelsea next year.
I don't even want lukaku tbh, paying 20m for Lukaku is dumb, the next drogba talk is BS, he is nowhere close to being like Drogba.

Re: Summer Signings
The only thing that is pressing me to buy Aguero is that he is still 4 years or so younger than Torres. He would be a great asset for us to have and for others not to have. He can adapt pretty well to a wider position if needed and he can cover for Torres if he gets injured. If we are going to sell Anelka and Drogba we have no one that can cover upfront. Sturridge has to play and Kalou just isn't good enough to start a game, if he stays that is. Neymar deal doesn't seem to be going through either.
In the end I don't want to end up with us bidding 35m for Kaka +his ugly wages! If we are buying someone we should buy someone good enough to fit into the squad and possibly good enough to start games. Most of the players that we are linked with are either below 21 or from a not very hard league. Its a risk. Aguero is a proven 20+ goal striker. He is strong enough for EPL and he is open for negotiations. We should have gone for Aguero last season IMHO, but its never too late.
If Neymar deal goes through I dont mind us not getting Aguero, even if i prefer the latter. But Neymar deal is getting farther and farther away.

Re: Summer Signings
We just have to agree to disagree. Ultimately it comes down to this, turning two strikers Aguero and Sturridge into wingers is not wise decision.

Re: Summer Signings
Well, true I agree to disagree but tell me, if Nico, Drogs and Kalou all leave, who is there to cover up? I dont think that Drogba will leave anyways. But still leaves us thin on strikers. Thats one reason why we failed to come back quickly, there was no proper striker at Chelsea when Drogba got ill. Sturridge is back so its much less obvious now but still it doesn't mean that getting a young player iis bad. Specially cos Neymar deal is not going anywhere atm. But I wouldn't mind getting him due to his lower price and lower wages.
Re: Summer Signings
If the club decides to change our playing style next season and go with Torres up top we'll need to play a 4-2-3-1 formation with a pure AM (trequartista) playing behind Nando to get the best out of him. He doesn't have Didier's ability to create chances for himself or his teamamtes so we'll need a proper playmaker for him to really prosper. Lampard 07-09 could have easily done the job for us but I'm not sure he has the legs for that role anymore.
Lukaku with Kalou and Anelka gone.
De Bruyne (i rate him highly) and one of Neymar, Sanchez or Hazard.
The next Ozil eg Ganso, Erikssen, Pastore, etc
And maybe VDW or Isla
Mikel,Essien, Ramires, Lampard, McEachran
are the players we should be going for in the summer IMO.
I actually thought Kakuta would be able to play that playmaker role for us but he hasn't developed as quickly as expected. Carlo didn't help at all to be fair to the lad.

Re: Summer Signings
I'm hearing from twitter (take it as you please) that we had a 30m bid for Sneijder rejected recently and bid for Pastore in October.
Least we know the board aren't total klutz
Gil, did you find some videos/matches of that De Bruyne kid?

These Pastore rumours are promising IMO in terms of us seeking a creative force.

Re: Summer Signings
Pastore vs Sneijder
That is a tough one. I would be perfectly fine with either.
Sneijder is better atm, but Pastore is 5 years younger and has a lot of potential.
@Gil
Any thoughts on Sneijder?

Re: Summer Signings
How the hell are we going to accommodate both Torres and Lukaku together (not forgetting Sturridge)??

Re: Summer Signings
Lukaku will be a sub, and he is prepared for that role.
I am still waiting to see how much we officially pay for Lukaku.

Re: Summer Signings
I don't buy the "next Drogba" hype, he could be a really good striker but there is also a chance he could be the next Kenwyne Jones.
Lukaku lacks technical skills atm, and this is where Drogba excels in.

I can't believe that he only recently turned 18 (less than a month ago).
For a 17 year old he has shown great potential, and the good think is that he knows how to score. But not a finished project even though hell be a 20m signing lol

Re: Summer Signings
He will play a lot of time on the bench thats for sure. Lukaku that is, so Torres has no real competition from him. The only problem I have is whether we have enough quality on the bench to replace Torres if needed, and we still dont know if he would be good next season. Drogba will be there and thats pretty much it.
Re: Summer Signings
So It will be Torres starting, Drogs to come on if we need a goal and Lukaku to come on when we're winning.

If Torres disappoint we can also move Sturridge to CF.

iNFINITY9910 wrote:What about the wings? Who is there to replace Sturridge? Or the LWF?
I think you mean RW, since we have discussed Sturridge playing on the right for a while.
The RW is a major concern for me, because after Sturridge we have nobody else to play behind him. So i think we need to buy another wing player, If Sturridge goes down with an injury we have nobody to back him up.
Here is how i see it
ST-Torres, Drogba, Lukaku
RW-Sturridge,????????
LW-New signing, Malouda or Zhirkov
So RW is a bigger concern then ST.
