This competition has been utter shite for years now, the decline of the PL/Serie A definitely plays a part as well as the away goals rule which encourages negative and ugly football. See the Celtic-Juve tie yesterday :facepalm:

This used to be must watch TV for me years ago, now it's about as relevant as the COC in my eyes. Over 100 games played for Barcelona to win it at the end of the day.

At least with the Europa League the competition is balanced, Barca aside how many truly great teams are there in the CL this year? Loads of fraudulent teams but all are several tiers below Barcelona.

The 1/8 lost of their luster since they decided to cut them to last several weeks. All matchs should be played on a 2 day period, as usual.

This two weeks thing is just stupid.

Think you need to seriously start worrying about Sparta Prague tomorrow and stop worrying about something which you are irrelevant in.

This is going to be one of the best CL's in years,rest assured.

Gil you are just watching the wrong games. Typically of you that you view these overhyped games which are bound to be negative neutralized borefests in every possible way (including tactically) and miss the matches that are pleasing to the eye and more. You need to learn how to pick your matches mate.

See a replay of Shaktar vs Dortmund and then tell if it has or not.

I can see Barca not winning it this year. Teams can PTB and defensively they aren't the best this season. Are they actually favourites to win it?

it's crap SAF is ruining it by turning great attackers like Rooney into CBs

CL is the same, but it is evolving like everything else. The away goal rule is perhaps ruining more than helping though. A goal should just... be... a goal...

You recall incorrectly. Shevchenko actually scored the winning penalty that year. He missed it in 05 against us.

The only thing I remember from that match was Shevchenko's disallowed goal. Supposedly someone had blocked Buffon's vision Laughing which was a complete farce.

no, it hasnt lost its glamour, if anything it has been more exciting this season. last season was epic as well so i am not seeing a decline, i think it has actually improved.

No. the champions league is freaking awesome group stages and knock out witnessing the best teams in europe go head to head. the only thing that makes the CL lose its glamour is corruption from eufa/fifa. the fact that the practice draw was excactly the same as the main draw raises afew eye brows other then that i love the current format
