Agreed that's the way it should be, especially for Rafa when a lot of Mourinho's didn't perform under him for one reason or another.
Eto'o aside probably, i would like to see teams of players who performed best under what ever coach you decide to pick.
For example if you want to pick a Hiddink XI i think choosing Eto'o is wrong because for intensive purposes he hasn't performed under him.
In that case, Hyypia for Samuel, and someone for Cambiasso (Suggestions Welcome)
Edit:
Cesar
Zanetti Ayala Hyypia Cole
Alonso Baraja
Gerrard Aimar Vicente
Eto'o

Baraja.
The player of the Valencia team in for me, without him, it really doesnt work in my opinion.

Re: Jose Mourinho's Greatest XI
Does anyone have a site where they show old starting line ups and squads?
I probably won't bother till tomorrow but think i need a vague platform to start from.
To at least get the debate going anyway.

Re: Jose Mourinho's Greatest XI
I took it as the players who played best under the particular manager. Its a very subjective and Imo almost impossible to be 100% right or wrong.
Formation and players being played out of position (to an extent) isn't greatly important, what really matters is roughly 4 defenders, 3ish midfielders and 3ish attackers, and 1 goalie of course.
Capello is particularly interesting as he has managed the likes of England, Milan, Real Madrid, Roma, Juve, and I guess you can make an argument for some Russian players as well.

Torres instead of Eto'o considering his performances with Gerrard feeding him at Liverpool.

Chelsea center-back pairing only coincided 15 goals the whole season under JM

TBH I won't pretend to know anything about the other sides he's managed so I focused on Bayern, BMG and Real Madrid. I really didn't follow La Liga at the time, big matches aside.
You're right big time about KHR, Rumenigge left for Inter the same summer Heynckes signed for Bayern. Oops.

Lippi:
Theyre all either from his times at Juve in the mid 90's and early 2000's, and his times at Italy in 2006 and 2010.
Doesnt really get any stronger than this though.

if we're going by how they played under the coach then albelda was one of the best defensive midfielders of his time while alonso's peak was two years of playing long balls, and 02-04 carboni was better than cole this year... also liverpool torres under benitez >>> any other striker under benitez
i'm being totally objective here

I will fully admit I don't remember shit about Canizares...I don't think 11 year old me was concerned/knowledgable about any nuances in goalkeeper play
Cole was mostly cause I couldnt think of anyone else: Didn't remember Valencias left back, Liverpools all I could think of was Riise and Traore () and Inters were nothing special either
Eto'o - Torres I might debate a little over
I know the Torres of Rafa was not the Torres of today, but Eto'o was so god damn good during Rafa's spell at Inter that I had to pick him - I am also being totally objective with that pick
