If a player perform's better for a long period of time, he is indeed a better player.

Cesc doesn't do much in big games because he either sits in the bench or plays as fake striker.

Assists are terrible stats for this reason. That Alexis tap in assist goes to Pedro when its Iniesta's who pass was the great one, just as great as the Cesc assist pass.

Wasnt saying he doesnt, I was merely pointing to how assists are a flashy stat but really shouldnt be taken much note of when other equally or more important passes dont get recognised.

If your invisible in midfield, its much more costly because it ruins you attempts to build attacks. If there is a position you cant be inconsistent (during 1 game, let alone over time) its midfield and even more so positionally, not showing for the ball, not coming towards it when your team-mates need you...and he has been guilty of that numerous times.

I dont care about goals or assists, that's nothing to a center midfielder.

The thing is that he isn't invisible in midfield when he always makes around 90 good passes when playing as a midfielder. He can setup the tempo of the game and distribute, not as well as Xavi, but he can.

thing is, while it was never their greates asset, Xavi and Iniesta seem really "harmless" these days, both in terms of assist and in goals. I get that these are not the things that make a CM but you can't disregard them entirely.

Cesc has been at an exceptional level for one and a half year now, he's learnt a lot since leaving Arsenal but is also showing his passing skills and ability to get in goalscoring positions which he showed at Arsenal aswell. Fantastic person and player.

Pep steps forward, just to make a point of sending Neymar to the ground when there are 2 other players in a good position to defend. Normal defenders would track him and then let someone else take over so he can get back into the defence line...oh, not Pepe though.
