Jose Mourinho holding out for Wayne Rooney summer deal after rejecting strikers offered to Chelsea during this window:
Jose Mourinho has rejected a host of strikers already offered to him as January signings because he is convinced he can land Wayne Rooney at the end of the season

Fair enough, Wayne is Jose's type of player and they may be without CL next season.

We better land him, unlike last summer.

José Mourinho stays silent on Rooney interest:
Chelsea manager José Mourinho has refused to be drawn on reports of renewed interest in Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11668/9109658/transfer-news-jose-mourinho-silent-on-wayne-rooney-interest-from-chelsea

"I don't want to speak about it."

"We play Man United in a few days. I don't think it's nice to speak about a Man United player."

"You have to ask him (Rooney). You have to ask the player. And Man United because Man United has a contract with the player that doesn't end at the end of the season."

Radamel Falcao still on Chelsea transfer hit-list in the event Wayne Rooney signs new deal:
The top target for José Mourinho remains Wayne Rooney, but if the Manchester United star decides to extend his contract at Old Trafford, the Blues boss is set to move for Monaco's Colombian striker Falcao
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/chelsea-transfer-news-radamel-falcao-3011285

Keeping all their doors open. That way, in the unlikely event that we do sign him over the summer, they can say, "See, see, see!!1! We told you this back in January!!1!", etc. etc.

Jose Mourinho plays down striker goalscoring impotence and confirms he won't be buying a center-forward this month:
Chelsea boss José Mourinho has praised his side's goals from all over the pitch and says he will not sign a striker this January
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/chelseas-jose-mourinho-confirms-wont-3015197

"Everyone needs strikers to score goals."

"The strikers are the goalscorers. If you have players in other positions, who can score an important number of goals – better. If you have a Frank Lampard – better. If you have Eden Hazard – better. But the strikers are the ones who normally score the goals."
"Fernando knows we are not going into the market now. In the summer, a club like Chelsea is always trying to improve and get new players, but he knows we like him and knows there is no problem."

Chelsea are reluctant to make a big winter buy after Torres Smile. Honestly speaking big ticket buys in Winter hardly prove their worth - Either they are cup tied or they fail to fit in(pressure/time). Chelsea will address striking issues in summer, but pivot cover in Winter.

We're more likely to get a CF in the summer anyway. Only reason we're buying Matic is due to MVG's Injury and Essien's ghostlyness.

True. I wish MVG comes back fully fit next season. He is more creative than Ramires.

Of course he is, Ramires isn't creative.

MVG will return to training in March/April so hopefully he is ready for next season.

Chelsea will wait until the summer to sign a striker, says José Mourinho:
José Mourinho is prepared to be patient to find the right player to be Chelsea's main man
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2545877/Chelsea-concluded-activity-January-transfer-window-says-Jose-Mourinho.html

"We know what we are doing and if we do (something) now we are not doing the right thing."

"I know that people probably can think 'what they need is a striker to score 30 goals like Aguero, Dzeko, Suarez' and all these guys."

"But the most important thing for us is not today. The most important thing for us is the perspective of future and doing the right thing."

"When we do the striker, we do the right thing. And the right thing is not, for sure, now."

"Normally the market is easier in the summer, more time, more players, more changes. It's much better."

This is honestly something which I cannot decide upon.

Cavani seems to expensive and he just moved. Rooney doesn't seem to be an option anymore. Falcao is now out long term. Ibra would only be short term. Suarez is Suarez, Lewandowski is off to Bayern. Benzema wouldn't want to play under Jose.

I honestly think Mandzukic would be a decent option, same with Gomez (haven't heard much on him this season) or possibly Costa.

Cavani is the perfect Mourinho forward, for me. Tall, strong, works his ass off off the ball (every time I've seen him at least), and scores bucketloads.

Yes. If we are to believe rumors . It seems Chelsea are planning a summer shopping spree that includes Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani. Just one problem – they’ll have to sell Romelu Lukaku to raise the money!

Chelsea set for summer transfer window strikeforce makeover, confirms José Mourinho:
José Mourinho says he is planning "surgical" changes up front for the Blues this summer
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/chelsea-transfers-torres-etoo-ba-3302263

"Every match matters. But THESE matches, when you have to win, obviously they matter."

"I don't think it's the moment to speak about next season and the market, but it's clear to everybody that Chelsea next year wants to bring a striker. That is clear. It's also clear we want to improve our players."
"What's the future for the [current Chelsea] strikers? The ones that are staying are competing with the striker we are bringing.

"And normally at the end of the season, players that are not playing a lot or players who are not happy and prefer a change, that is also part of the market."

"We want to improve the team and the players and make some surgical movements in the transfer window."

I love his directness and openess (which he presents in a not-too-serious way which is important). The lack of I remember hating Ancelotti for.

If we sign a proven striker, then I think Lukaku will most likely be swapped for Berkley. Eto may stay for another year.

one striker doesnt equate surgical changes. one striker is better but not enough. We need two top quality strikers. All lines need improvement starting even with GK; Thibaut must come back and Lukaku should (but may not) stay.
