one striker doesnt equate surgical changes. one striker is better but not enough. We need two top quality strikers. All lines need improvement starting even with GK; Thibaut must come back and Lukaku should (but may not) stay.

I actually think we will bring more than one in but we'll see what happens.

Here is what I'd do.

If we're keeping Lukaku, bring him in, if we don't, buy someone like Jay Rodriguez or Welbeck. Buy Costa as he would have scored from one of those many corners we had and either keep Eto'o or buy a decent back up.

I think we will be selling Torres this summer, Ba for sure. We will be getting a some beast of a striker, and we should keep lukaku as our second striker, this leaves us with a third spot striker.

I don't think we will be able to buy 2 proven strikers. He is looking to replace

Lampard - Berkley
Ashley Cole - Luke Shaw(but he will also go after Juan Bernat)
David Luiz - May infact stay
Strikers - 2(Proven striker and someone little older like Gomez ) + 1 ( Eto may stay, if not we have to bring some one back from loan)
GK - Curtotis will most likely ext contract and Czech will continue.

Yea I'm sure we will only get one proven striker, while also going for another striker unless eto is given another contract.  But I really want lukaku to stay and play striker no. 2.  Torres & Ba will need to be sold, cole will be leaving.  I'm not sure about luiz leaving, we will need a CB too plus an LB

I doubt we'll do that much.

I can see us doing something like this:
In: Costa, Courtois, Shaw, Zouma, CF, Lukaku.
Out: Cole, Schwarzer, Torres, Eto'o, Ba.

Perhaps something like this:
Courtois
Ivanovic Cahill Terry Azpilicueta
Luiz/Ramires Matic
Willian Oscar Hazard
Costa

Schurrle Lukaku/CF Salah
Van Ginkel Luiz/Ramires
Mikel/Lampard
Shaw Zouma Luiz Kalas
Cech

Luiz to be a fill in for CM and CB. Mikel or Lampard could leave too.

Torres, Eto'o and Ba...after scoring just 15 Premier League goals between them - with only TWO of those away from home

Seeing it out on paper like that is just....wow.

That's fooking grim.

I think we will bring back Lukaku and sign Costa for the striker position.

I am open to swapping Lukaku for Berkley, if Mou can convert him into a B2B midfielder.

We might sign Shaw too.

I have said this for a long time Ramires is not good enough to play on a regular occasion on a elite side. He was valuable once we had little motor in the team, but now we have so many players with high work rate he is not necessary.

Hmm I agree with you. He does not add creativity to the pivot and would only play because of his running abilities. We really don't need his running however. It would be better to partner Matic with a more technical partner; that would massively improve the squad.

This is also similar to what I'm feeling with Willian. He needs to add more to his game other than just the superb ability to press. He's an AM and should act like one.

But the difference is that Willian has all those abilities he just been so poor in the final third. We will see what happen next season with him. He has all the ability and shown flashes of it. He has Schurrle and Salah as competition, so not really worried with him on the right flank. Ramires on the other hand competition is a 35 year old Lampard and CB in Luiz. We really need to sign a Wistel, Gundogen, Kroos, Berkeley, etc.
Ramires is a great utility player, but should not be in your XI on a regular basis.

I think the best scenario in the striker position is if Madrid goes after Suarez, and we sign Benzema.[Fantasy]

Pool is pretty much a mid table team at best without Suarez.

I agree on Ramires. Willian & Ramires have same weaknesses - Final third and Poor ball control. This is where Berkley will be great.

Honsetly I really don't care much about our LB position, but we should sign Berkley at any cost. Him and a decent striker are the most likely buys .Others would be luxury buys.

Also I meant Curtotis will most likely extend contract and stay a AM.

TBH, with regular game time and proper coaching, DL4 could be a fine CM, he has all of the skills.

Sign Costa and Shaw as main targets, then work on a back up CF.

Don't want to discard them but I wouldn't say United, Spurs and Gala were big games. I'm not trying to be disrespectful to them but their season have been awful and the matches against them were amongst the easiest in our season (I'm talking about the home games where we won and our strikers scored).

José Mourinho says 'killer' striker necassary for Chelsea success:
José Mourinho says that the addition of a "killer" striker will be the key to Chelsea beating stubborn opposition next season
http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/27284087

"We don't have the kind of striker able to, in a short space, to make an action, to score a goal, to open the gate."

"Against teams that are more defensive, more aggressive, more worried about trying to keep a clean sheet than really to play, we keep saying the same."

"In these kind of matches, you just need to open the gate. When you open the gate, the gate is open and you win much more. We weren't able to do that."

"We have to try to win as a team, to improve as a team, but also add the attacking player with that killer instinct and the number of goals that push teams to different levels."

"It's something our club is going to try to do, respecting obviously that we have good strikers."

No, it was reported recently to be very close. If that is true, It will be confirmed between the CL final and the WC sometime.

How many of those "pre-WC deal to get business done early" actually happen though?

Unlikely in this instance as well.
