Sacking and re-hiring Gasparini and Sannino during the same season not once but TWICE. 27 coaches since 2002. what a Freaking legend. always entertaining. gonna miss him and palermo next season.

Free is right, they have no obligation to return after being fired. I bet the severance payments in their contracts were substantial though, so it's not that stupid to keep going back to Palermo in the short-term - still bad for your long-term coaching career though.

Do feel sorry for the players and managers though, wouldn't have a clue what was going on, let alone having to cope with new tactics every month when a new manager came in!

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini gave an expletive-filled interview insulting Enzo Maresca, Franco Vazquez and sacked Coach Beppe Iachini.

The patron did not hold back when speaking to Radio 24 about his controversial decision to fire Iachini, bringing in new tactician Davide Ballardini.

It was particularly contentious as players Maresca and Vazquez complained publicly on social media.

“I am the President of the club and they must respect the club,” said Zamparini. “In Italy thanks to a stupid law the players are considered to be employees.

“Maresca was talking bull****. I still care for him, but I’ll give him a telling off and warn he mustn’t talk rubbish anymore. He’s ignorant and should get informed before talking ****. It’s not true that Iachini helped me earn €60m.

“All the team is behind me, except for a player and a half. Maresca is the one, Vazquez is the half. From now on, before talking about the club, these players must ask for my authorisation.

“Maresca should be thinking about the €500,000 he earns net at his age. Vazquez gets €800,000 and last season our books read -€23m, so we only balanced them thanks to Paulo Dybala’s sale.”

Why did Zamparini sack Iachini even after the 1-0 victory over Chievo?

“After that match I sent Iachini a message. I told him: ‘That was your worst line-up since I’ve known you, but at least you got back one valuable thing – blind luck.’

“My family wants me to leave football and this sport really is breaking my balls now. If I find someone who will buy the club, I’m ready to sell.”

He always sacks for nothing, but I think there are reasons about this choices now.
imo the problem about Iachini is he put away those players who Zamparini wanted to value ... because this is the current Palermo strategy , get money as made for Pastore, Dybala, soon Vazquez ...
El Kaoutari was the main Palermo's signing on defence and he was the reserve back  Goldaniga ... Quaison,  the most talented after Vazquez, got more bench than minutes ... Chochev even less ... Trajkovski  worse .
Zamparini knows he can go in Europe just with a miracle and at same time it's impossible to relegate because there are teams who suck much more than Palermo
for this reason if his coach doesn't get that money because he doesn't deploy    those players who had to be valorised, he sacks the coach.

Stepped down as President of Palermo. End of an era. I remember a post Robes made recently mentioning how Palermo had floundered before Zamparini took over and had them in a nice little period of prosperity in Serie A. Will be interesting to see what happens to them in the future (likely to be back in Serie B next season regardless)
