Re: Witcher 3
Found this interesting from the Witcher 3 quest designer
What about Dragon Age: Inquisition? Dragon Age now also follows an open world.
"I liked it played out," says Tomaszkiewicz, "but I think ..." - he thinks, obviously striving to find the right words.
CD Projekt owes Bioware particularly as a development studio lot. At that time, 2004 Bioware showed at E3 Jade Empire. CDP was at that time still little more than a Polish sales, a bunch of loonies who have had trouble finding buyers for their lying still in the early stages The-Witcher demo. Bioware gave them place on the stand and thus the necessary momentum.
Now Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz sits and thinks about Dragon Age: Inquisition, the latest game in a studio, in the shadow of CD Projekt was great. "For my taste, it could do with less fetch quests," he says. "But it's still a good game. Ultimately, it increases the diversity, which can never be wrong with role-playing games."
"Well, my favorite open world game is Fallout: New Vegas," Tomaszkiewicz says about the way it combines quests and story with the open world. It is insanely good to hear from someone who is in charge of the missions in Witcher 3. New Vegas is one of the few almost absammelresistenten examples of modern RPGs, defines your role in his world through deeds and fractions. The drawers do not know where you could grab the residents of Nevada, and withdraws in favor of a neutral perspective the events detected. In short, the players decide who is good and bad, as far as this distinction is relevant

Re: Witcher 3
Suppose it's the same as "Skyrim is 300 hrs long " Story won't be anywhere close to that, but with all the side shit you could in theory spend that amount of time playing it.

Re: Witcher 3
I know from playing Witcher 2 that the story will be much longer than most games that get released anyway.
I have no concerns about that, my concern is how they mix the story with the open ended nature of the game. Even GTA suffers from the disconnection you get from the story due to the open world.
They manage to do that then they are *bleep* magicians lol.

Good thing is that you don't have to play the 1st or the 2nd to play the 3rd. Not played the last 2 so I want to play this one.

Re: Witcher 3
If the 2nd one is any indication they do a very good job of explaining the story, in the 2nd one they did this anime type cutscene which did a great job of explaining the story up to that point whenever necessary.
I didn't feel lost and confused at all despite not playing the first game, so you shouldn't have a problem.

This is true, it could break immersion so easily. Something like here is urgent task, go rescue this miserable girl but on the way, let me stop and pick up plants for a little bit, go back home rest to full health some more. I don't like filler stuffs like DA:I, I'm an inquisitor and you asked me to pick some freaking herbs wtf, maybe I'm just so over this MMO fetch quest. I want solid 50-60 hours interesting quests that stick to story line.

That's too much of a spoiler for me, rather just play it myself in one and a half month.

Re: Witcher 3
“With the development of Wild Hunt coming to an end, the team has embarked upon the creation of two new really big adventures set in The Witcher universe,” says Marcin Iwiński, CD PROJEKT RED co-founder. “We remember the time when add-on disks truly expanded games by delivering meaningful content. As gamers, we’d like to bring that back. We’ve said in the past that if we ever decide to release paid content, it will be vast in size and represent real value for the money. Both our expansions offer more hours of gameplay than quite a few standalone games out there.”
Hearts of Stone will take Geralt on an all-new, 10-hour-plus adventure into the wilds of No Man’s Land and the nooks and alleys of Oxenfurt, where he’ll try to complete a contract from the mysterious Man of Glass. Caught in a thick tangle of deceit, Geralt will need all his cunning and strength to solve the mystery and emerge unscathed.
Blood and Wine, a 20-hour-plus tale that will introduce the all-new in-game region of Toussaint, will take Geralt to a land untainted by war, where an atmosphere of carefree indulgence and knightly ritual masks an ancient, bloody secret.
“While we’re offering the Expansion Pass now, we want to make one thing clear: don’t buy it if you have any doubts. Wait for reviews or play The Witcher and see if you like it first. As always, it’s your call,” Iwiński concludes.
The upcoming expansions will offer gamers new adventures, gear and foes and will feature characters both new and dearly missed -- all crafted with maximum attention to detail and quality by the joint forces of CD PROJEKT RED’s Warsaw and Cracow studios.
Hearts of Stone will premiere in October, while Blood and Wine is slated for release in the first quarter of 2016.
Both expansions will be available on all three platforms: Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 4.

Re: Witcher 3
Infographic which gives a short recap on the story and lore of The Witcher for those who plan on buying 3 but haven't played 2 or 1.
Devs have said they are going to make it easy for newcomers but none the less its a nice bit of information.

Re: Witcher 3
After seeing daredevil I have come to expect certain things from games
Hope main bad guy is Bald and big with suit. No goatee.
Main character has to be blind, has to have comic relief friend. Enemies must be fought in the dark.
Plot must be 13 episodes long. Otherwise, no buy.
