He doesn't want to come back. Besides he's had his chances, it's time to move on. Both Bendtner and him, that generation is finally and thankfully (almost) gone.

True. I'm glad to see Vela beasting at Sociedad though.urbaNRoots wrote:He doesn't want to come back. Besides he's had his chances, it's time to move on. Both Bendtner and him, that generation is finally and thankfully (almost) gone.

If he did then he would have to be backup for Giroud upfront or backup to Cazorla/Walcott.
He isn't better than Walcott or Giroud atm

Re: Carlos Vela Appreciation Thread
lol walcott has pace but he also has very intelligent forward movement, when walcott plays we are a different animal. vela is not as effective as walcott. proved it at arsenal and he also proved it again this season when he played against man utd. where was he? he was nowhere.windkick wrote:He is better than Walcott. Walcott actually performs better in big games than against fodder. Vela is just a flat track bully.
If you think Walcott only has pace then you haven't been paying attention since about 2010. 21 goals and 14 assists last season despite missing about half of it.

Re: Carlos Vela Appreciation Thread
Ignorance is hilarious lmao.
Walcott is one of the most effective players in the PL and is not just pace and Arsenal have missed him a lot.... ask any Arsenal fan.
While Vela was crap in the PL.... i like him but he's just not suited to the PL good for him to stay where he is.
Treatment Walcott gets is ridiculous, anyway this is a Vela appreciation thread so carry on.

Walcott is clearly the better player for Arsenal since Walcott is the one who actually succeeded. But Vela would be my personal preference on a whole and it was a fine individual performance (actually watched the match today).

Re: Carlos Vela Appreciation Thread
Vela was "crap" in the Premier League because he barely got consistent playing time. Look at what happened when he started playing consistently for La Real.
You can't assume he wouldn't perform well now, seeing as how he had his breakthrough two seasons ago. He is more skilled than Walcott, for instance.
And no, you can't say Walcott performs better in big games and then say Vela is a "flat-track bully", when it's the opposite. Look at the teams Walcott and Vela directly contribute to goals against last season:
Walcott vs 1-8 teams: 5 goals, 2 assists
Walcott vs 9-15 teams: 3 goals, 5 assists
Walcott vs 16-20 teams: 6 goals, 4 assists
Vela vs 1-8 teams: 6 goals, 5 assists
Vela vs 9-15 teams: 5 goals, 3 assists
Vela vs 16-20 teams: 3 goals, 3 assists
I don't watch every single Arsenal match, but from the ones I have seen, Walcott seems like an end product-type of player.

Re: Carlos Vela Appreciation Thread
He never got consistent game time because he clearly wasn't good enough or suited to what Arsenal needed.... a manager like Wenger doesn't throw kids to the side that easily.
Hell he still believes in Diaby
He clearly just isn't suited to playing in England it happens, doesn't make him a bad player in fact he's very good its just sometimes players don't make it for certain teams.
Even Vela admitted himself that he's not suited to English football and much prefers Spain, doesn't make him bad its just what it is and won't be the last and sure as hell isn't the first.
But those who say Walcott is average or is just all pace are very very ignorant and living in the past badly.... if that were the case he would have left Arsenal a long long time ago and Wenger wouldn't have pushed out the boat to sign him on a 100k a week contract.
He's an extremely good player who has improved a lot in last 3 years.... watch Ozil's eyes light up now when he sees Walcott making runs in behind in coming weeks its going to be ridiculous.

Re: Carlos Vela Appreciation Thread
Vela doesn't like Premier League. He has said it a lot of time. When he admitted that we have a buy out clause, he begged Arsenal to not activate it lol.
And we obviously respect that.
He is happy in Spain. The league suits him and that's all it matters. For Arsenal, Walcott is easily one of our most important player. People like to live in the past but anyone who saw us last season or the season before knows what Walcott brings to our side.
He doesn't even use his pace as his main asset any more. His runs in behind and finishing have been far more useful than his pace for the last two years.

Re: Carlos Vela Appreciation Thread
He didn't beg, he just shot down the rumours. He even said that he didn't have the opportunities he thought he deserved, so that had to have played a part in any form of negotiation.
He wasn't performing at a high level that was expected of him when he first came to Europe, and he rarely played. When was loaned to Spain, he played well and a huge part of that had to do with him getting consistent playing time. Cup matches are insignificant.
He was underwhelming in his first couple of months at La Real, and look at how he developed in the second half of his first season.
He wasn't suited to English football when he was still young and developing as a player. The exact same thing happened to dos Santos at Tottenham. Hernández probably got the same amount of time in his first season than Vela and dos Santos did throughout their entire time in the Premier League.
I do agree with you regarding Walcott, as he and Podolski are the types of player that provide width and runs in behind the defence, something that Cazorla and the others can't do. But I don't think he is better than Walcott.
Vela and Walcott are both pretty average finishers, but Vela provides more inventiveness and creativity on the ball in a way Walcott can't.

It's a shame Mexico couldn't get Dos Santos, Hernandez, and Vela together for the NT. I know there's several reasons but I think it couldve been great.

His whole performance for anyone that wants to watch.
He had a goal incorrectly ruled out for offside as well

I do feel he needed more opportunities to shine at Arsenal but at the same time. I'm glad he left as now he has found his place and is shining. Couple more years of this quality and hopefully he can solidify himself at a bonafide CL club.
