He's still at Dnipro in Ukraine. We were linked with both him and Yarmolenko but neither came to fruition.

Witsel is being highly overrated here.

I remember there was a point before his Benfica move, that in 2011 we desired out Mr.X to which ranged from Fabregas, Schweinsteiger, Pastore, Hamsik etc

One of the prospects was Witsel. Given that our Milan section has a solid camaraderie in thoroughly scouting our confirmed targets, along with the Milan directors, Milan section heavily scouted Witsel and we were thoroughly unimpressed to what we saw. And no, it wasn't just THAT penalty miss that changed our minds.

We saw a player who wove his physical and technical characteristics very well yet just didn't stand out as to what his absurd price dictates.

I've seen him in Benfica as well, good player yet nowhere near his worth or hype.

In Zenit vs Milan; Montolivo thoroughly outplayed and taught him a lesson on two different occasions IIRC.

Can't believe he's still trapped in Russia ffs. Only took Willian 6 months to escape from there.

Surely the likes of Liverpool, United, Arsenal & Madrid are interested?

45 millions for Witsel? lol, no. i havent watched a full game of witsel in like two years, so i have no idea if he is even "elite"

if he has a great world cup im sure some clubs will be interested.

Willian was at a club which was basically selling all their players and still cost 30m.

Good luck that happening to Zenit and anyone actually paying that sort of money for an highly overrated player.

I have to wonder what does the guys at Sport Interactive and Sega use to rate players because I've yet to see what's the noise about Witsel. He is a good footballer but there are many good footballers out there...

Nah Tiote has been fantastic this season... to my great surprise Laughing

I don't think he's good enough for a top team though due to his inability to effect the game offensively.

Stops attacks extremely well and keeps the ball well when concentrated but he's not going to provide anything going forward other than ball retention.
