Pardew has to be the worse manager out there

Watching how Debuchy, Cabaye and Remy looked for NT and given that he also has Ben Arfa... i really don't understand how he doesn't do better with that talent tbh.

Well of course.....our best starting eleven is Krul-Debuchy-Coloccini-MYM-Santon-Anita-Sissoko-Cabaye-Ben Arfa-Cisse-Remy yet some how we contrive to be on the level of Fulham etc etc

The biggest down point on Pardew is any player with any ability under him gets worse the longer they are under his management.... when Remy catches this virus like everyone else we are genuinely f*cked ( he has 5 in 3 games btw)

Although there are still issues that even Pardew sacking wouldn't fix.... such as a centre forward who can hold the ball up and link up with Ben Arfa and Remy.... a good winger who can take people on and have good delivery, some creativity in midfield and a physical centre half to take the pressure off our current technically gifted but weak ones.

Even the fullbacks are areas which are very debateable at the moment although i don't think they are necessarily bad but used horrendously poorly by a clueless nutjob.

Although Pardew isn't the main issue, he's just a symptom to the cancer that is Mike Ashley.

5 in his last 3 games brah.... 5 in 5 appearances though yeah.

He didn't score in his first two games..... although one of them he only played ten minutes and created the only goal and in the 2nd he set up the first goal.

Either Debuchy is tanking it at Newcastle or he has a twin brother playing for France. I mean, he's looked downright terrible at times at Newcastle yet looks better than Sagna at NT. He's not even on Ribery's side, so you can't attribute that to a great partner like you do with Evra or Clichy.

I really don't get it. Pardew doesn't even need to be a genius. He has enough talent that he just needs to copy what everyone else is doing ffs.

We are talking about a guy who played Hayden Mullens (who?) over Mascherano when in charge at West Ham.

Marlon Harewood over Carlos Tevez as well.

Pardew just needs the right players. He needs no nonsense, versatile players who can do a proper job ffs

Should spend 40M on Padoin, De Ceglie, Motta, Isla then another 15M on Giovinco.

Finland got a draw in Spain and they had only conceded 6 goals in the 7 WCQ games prior to this one... so scoring 3 on them while missing good chances for a couple of others at least looks pretty darn good to me.

Not an easy team Finland. They're very good at PTB. First time I've seen France destroy that tactic in back-to-back games in a very long time.

Finland didn't do that until the 2nd half even though they were behind early too.  Stayed compact most of the game even then even though they sent 3-4 players on the attack at times in the 2nd half.

30 points before Christmas, and people still don't rate this guy.

Wait until Cabaye leaves or gets injured... then you'll know why i doubt his managing ability. When he finds a good setup, he rides it. But he's unable to adapt or use his squad properly imo. He just rides the wave and the wave often crashes at some point...

On the other hand, you could make the case that this particular characteristic is behind his relative success as a manager. He's consistently capable of maintaining a moderate amount of success and getting adequate performance levels from his squad. He's more than capable of maintaining mid-table status for several seasons with moderate backing, and as long as expectations are manged, that can be considered a qualified "success".

What he is not is a transcendent manager, nor is he capable of drawing transcendent performances from his players. In other words, he will not take a squad and raise them to the next level. He is far more likely to consolidate and maintain the club's current status. His best finishes in the league have been on the back of players in form, such as Ba several seasons ago and Remy this season.

I'm as quick to criticize him as anyone, but he's not actually an awful manager. He's merely not going to drastically improve the club. As long as he remains at a club, there will be a glass ceiling. The concerning thing for Newcastle is that he is now paired with the man-management and transfer wizard that is Joe Kinnear. If the last window is anything to go by, Pardew could soon find himself with a sub-par squad and battling relegation again. Should Remy's form dry up (or he doesn't sign on permanently) and Cabaye leaves, Newcastle will be hard-pressed to replace their quality, and Pardew will struggle to draw quality out of the existing replacements.

Yeah but, with the talent on this team, being between 8-12 in the league should be automatic. Just because he sucked before and now they're performing how they should doesn't make Pardew a good manager... he's average to mediocre right now. Completely awful before.

No, it certainly doesn't. However, Pardew's style is very reliant on having a forward of quality that can make the most of a small number of clear-cut chances. Remy and Ba have made the system "work" in the last few seasons. Conversely, when Cisse lost form last season, they flirted with relegation.

Strangely enough, it doesn't seem that quality in midfield makes that much difference. If he has midfielders of a certain level of quality, he seems capable of making the system work. I think a midfield or Anita/Tiote might actually be almost as effective in this current setup as Cabaye/Tiote. That's not meant to be a slight on Cabaye, but a slight on Pardew's inability to make the most of a true, international-class CM.

Without Cabaye playing, Newcastle has been putrid the past two years. Mole shared the stats a little while ago and they were insane...
