There are few teams in the competition as strong as Atleti are in terms of being a team, neither Juve nor Madrid are as strong or disciplined as Atletico are. They have the ability to win the CL, they're candidates, absolutely.

He is right about their strength as a team, and they are led by one of the best CF in europe in for this calendar year, and he is improving all the time.

Can they win? Sure, every team that's still in it has a mathematical chance.
Will they win? Not a chance

I think semis is achievable for them if they get a favorable draw. After that, I'm not sure. They're a team designed to do well in knock-out competitions rather than league format, the amazing thing about them is that they do well in both.

They are the most organised and best coached team in Europe probably.

I'll give them that, dat 2 banks of four never gets old such a difficult set up to break down.

I still don't think they will win it but you wouldn't rule them out in any KO competition as anyone in Spain will testify.

They won't win it, the experience of the big clubs is something Atleti done have, although they have what it takes to get very deep into the competiton, similar to what Malaga did last season

Whoever take this team out of the competition (fairly) would impress me alot, I will say that much.

I am a believer. Not favourites by any means, but I think they have just as good a chance as supposedly other "better" teams.

Testament to how impressive of a coah Simeone is at the end of the day. No ego issues, all work towards the same goal, they all sacrifice with no reserve, great team.

They are designed to play for KO rounds..they defends incredibly well.

Agree with The Franchise. They are a balanced team who play with intensity, just like how their coach used to play.

Their weakness other than not having a star player is lacking speed.

On a serious note, always said they were the dark horse of the CL. A proper cup team. Excellent defensively and brilliant organisation. Knows when to counter and when to sit back.

Not sure about winning the whole thing though, but they will be making the fans proud

Wow, this tired logic once again. You would think a Chelsea fan would have learned there lesson as there "experience" got them nothing but an ass whopping from Atletico with a European trophy on the line.

When will some of these people wake up and realize this Atletico squad is one of the most successful club teams in the last 4-5 years. Atletico will not just lay down for a "Big Team" and have shown so on many different occasions that "there experience" means absolutely nothing.

I mean since 2010 on there way to 5 trophies they went through Liverpool, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Bilbao. Are those big enough teams for you? Not to mention Barcelona was an eye lash away from joining that list.

It's just such a lazy thing to say, No Atletico cant win it, the big teams experience will be too much for them. I mean it's such a canned excused and just 100% factually incorrect.

Outside of Bayern I don't see another team in this competition that has a better chance than Atletico. And I think they would give Bayern all they can handle. They have a great chance to win this trophy.

I wouldn't write off Atletico at all. Solid team, as a club they've been performing well for years and improving.

I don't think they'll win it, but this team has as much of a chance as Chelsea did when they won it. This Atletico team is just as good, if not better.

Costa, Koke & Turan will all probably be sold in January, this is the way it works nowadays.

First of all PSG are in no way shape or form a Dark Horse. They won there league, have 2 of the top 5 forwards in Europe, the best Central Defender in the world and can pair him with one of the best young defenders in the world. Not to mention they have a great midfield and can buy almost anyone they want.

Second, when has THIS Atletico team bottled anything? I mean people keep pointing to an Atletico team with different players and coaching acting like it's the same old team.

THIS team ended a 14 year winning streak Real had on them and not only did they break the streak they did it in a game with a trophy on the line and have now beaten them the last 2 times they have played. Was that "bottling" it?

I mean I can't think of another team that have proved they are not what they once were more than this Atletico team. Beating teams like Real, Chelsea, Liverpool etc etc and beating them in style I might add. I mean you can't really get better pedigree than that.

The lazy logic people keep using is like me saying Liverpool are the favorites to win the EPL because United lost there manager and outside of them they have won the EPL more than any other team. And not only that, they have been the favorites to win the EPL every year for the last 20 years.

I mean it's insane logic.

I'm just so tired of hearing people say the same thing over and over again about Atletico and they were probably the same people who said well Chelsea wasn't trying that's the reason Atletico beat them.

Not to mention only 1 team is going to win the CL so yea any team has poor odds against the field to win the CL. And if Atletico lose people will come back here and say, "see I told you so, they can't win it."

I mean tell us you don't think Costa can't keep his form up or they will have an injury crisis and are too thin to recover from it or there midfield just isn't strong enough against the top teams in Europe. I mean anything other than Atletico can't win it because they are Atletico.

Normally I would agree with you but the Simione effect is strong man. We're talking about a guy who led them to the league when he was a player.

Like the push ups ledger Z, always keep check. I was a person, earlier in the season, who didn't think they would have been this tough, this disciplined and this good. I rate Simeone quite high, higher than I do most coaches in all honesty but Atletico are genuinely a threat for any team this season.

They wouldn't win it, don't think so but like Dani, I would be most impressed with who knocks them out...

They can probably beat a lot of sides due to their teamwork, however I can't see them beating Bayern for example.
