Not Worthy of a Thread Mk. II - Page 33 Empty Re: Not Worthy of a Thread Mk. II

Post by Pip Fri Dec 26, 2014 9:09 pm

Do managers in England get to celebrate the holidays with their families? A few days ago, David Moyes said that 2014 was the first year he got to celebrate Christmas with his family in 16 years. He said that yesterday (December 25), the players trained for a little bit and then were given the rest of the days off.

Has there been anything similar said by other managers in the Premier League?

Our squad didn't train at all yesterday, but that isn't the norm, teams usually do train.

Interesting, thank you for the response. I do not have the entire context of Moyes' comments, but when I find out I will come back to this thread. I assume he has an extended break for the holidays, as the next match against Barça will be on 3 January.

Blackpool's Jacob Murphy, currently on loan from Norwich, sent this on Snapchat before their game against Rotherham yesterday. The match ended 1-1.

That's pretty cool. I hereby promise to personally clean Lovren's locker if he ****s off in this transfer window.

http://www.espnfc.com/barclays-premier-league/story/2232357/tottenham-and-arsenal-ban-selfie-sticks-from-stadiums

ESPN wrote:London duo Tottenham and Arsenal have banned "selfie sticks" from White Hart Lane and the Emirates stadium.

The social media phenomenon has taken hold in England and sees users hold their phones or cameras in a stick to get a better angle for a photo of themselves.

However, Premier League clubs have taken a stance on the prop, insisting that it is not safe to bring into grounds. Tottenham had already banned their use during a match, but have now taken the decision to stop them being allowed in the stadium altogether as revealed by a fan on Twitter.

Bayern Munich midfielder Arjen Robben was reportedly bitten by a crocodile when retrieving a ball from a lake during his team's training camp in Qatar. The 30-year-old was left with a bandage around his "heavily bruised thumb, middle and ring fingers".

the BILD article states:

"Robben hit his hand against an obstacle during circuit training, has to wear a bandage around his bruised thumb, middle and ring finger. [..] Robben is able to train normally, and joked: 'playing billiards, I was bitten by a crocodile as I wanted to fetch a ball from a hole.'"
hmm

Someone who can't read German apparently made that English item. Or they used some translate thing and it translated 'loch' ('hole') as loch/lake hmm

In any case, quality journalism. Where's it from?
