I find this to be extremely true. Composure and confidence and a bit of brain is what you'd want from a CB.

Per year. Assuming a 4 year contract = 12m. Not bad.

I'm all for players that take paycuts to be at the club, that shows commitment and ambition. Masche did the same thing.

So did cesc.And some sources say mathieu is travelling to peru and some are saying not.We do not know for sure what is happening.

Mathieu is a solid player. I for one, see the benefits of him at Barcelona. However the transfer fee is absurd. Specially at his age. He will stay at this level for 2 years or 3 if we are pushing it. I know it's very difficult to find a quality CB but I hope Barcelona are going for another CB who is actually young and will stay for many years. Mathieu will be gone in 3 years and the problem will arise again. Specially if the transfer ban is going to take place.

I don't think any of us are upset about getting Mathieu. He is a solid player that can contribute and give us options. The issue is the price for his age, and the rumors that he is the only defender coming in this window. Mind you we won't be able to make any transfers next summer. Guessing that means the Barca B boys will get promoted and get a run next summer as back ups

Which is awesome considering are starters currently aren't playing at a level that's good enough.

Not a disaster, we have signed 5 very good players and I rate at least 4 of them (the other I dont know about, MATS). But the way in which they were done (who they are in terms of age and fit, the prices, what the other options were) are quite disappointing.

At least its not like last year where we signed 1 player (Neymar) despite needing 3, the year before where we signed the wrong kind of players (Song, Alba) or the year before that...Cesc..

i like matthieu, he is a good player, surprised everyone playing CB because of the speed and power he has, but i also recall the disaster he can turn into positionally, and the fact that he is not a leader of defense at all.

bit weird, sounds like a good operation despite the transfer fee but he is one of those signings i dont think will work out at all... i wish him luck tho, a player i like.
