Well Porto is a different level, Tello going isnt a loss. He was never really good in any La Liga game when he started. Thats quite damning.

Good impact sub and dominated the Segunda and below teams in the cup but never truly got it going. Also dont help that per minute, he covers less distance than any player we had except Messi.

Deulofeu I am not pleased about. Perhaps Enrique believes unless he is getting consistent minutes he wont give his all, then I understand. I think we could have kept him in January at least though..he could fill in while we are short (the next 4 months) and play in the cup games/lower La Liga ones. Once Jan comes and all games hold more value, then we could of sent him out for the rest of the season.

Dont get getting rid of Cuenca...if every was there a situation where a loan move actually made some sense for us..that was it...and of course, we dont loan him but instead throw him away.

I know Tello's time was run out, I'm more so pointing out how the club was so quick to hand out all of our young talented wingers for free and leaving our entire front thin as ice; when we had the players willing to come off the bench and fight for a spot who were young and hungry. I don't get why they went and made the club so thin up front. Players like Cuenca and Deulofeu were ready to fight off the bench. Atleast all of the players we let go have played allot with a first team, more than Adama and Munir (not saying they can't step in and do well)

I don't know...I just don't like the idea of using midfielders for wingers in our system after Peps last year when we had Iniesta on the left and Cesc partnered with Xavi. Too much holding and not enough width

I dont get why Tello wasnt sold...that would at least compensate for the thinness up front. Now instead its just a loan, we get minimal income and lose some depth.

I know Barca board is guilty for a lots of things but to blame them on this deal is a bit unfair. Roma held their stance for pretty much the whole summer. This Bayer deal is opportunistic from both ends if not for Javi Martinez injury and Manolas availability. Barca wanted to close their transfer book early to get proper pre season & balance squad number. To wait til the very last week of the window to sign such high profile defender like Benatia is just unrealistic. Simply put, Bayer got lucky & Barca was not.

On another note, that Douglas deal is official. 5 YEAR DEAL. And apparently he is a heap of trash, this deal makes no *bleep* sense. What a crooked and sleazy board we have, it's like they don't even try to hide it

Verm, and this Douglas kid should be given a proper chance in a barca shirt before we judge them i mean it's the least we can do, other then moaning and bringing up other teams transfers

I get what your saying and there are rings of truth in it, but there are some things which must also be addressed.

First is that, if Barca wanted to close their transfer book early to get proper pre season & balance squad number as you say..then signing an injured Vermaelen defeats that purpose. By all accounts, if we signed Benatia today he would play before Vermaelen. And Barcelona indeed already knew he was injured before signing him.

Also, the fact that Bayern have concluded the deal on its own tells me that while Roma were reluctant to sell but indeed behind their bluster had accepted the reality he was leaving. They wanted to hold on for more Barca money (a mistake which seems to have cost them around 10m) but behind all the smokes and mirrors, the availability of Benatia existed. So, we can only say Roma made a big mistake from their point of view but clearly we didnt do what was needed at the time to convince Roma to part with him for what we offered.

I wouldnt assume anything.

They were about to sign at least one defender AND 40m Cuadrado.

I would have rather signed Mathieu and Marquinhos than either of them with Vermaelen.

But important to come out from this is if they were willing to pay that much ("worth more than 40m") for Marquinhos, why the hell dont we possess Benatia?

We are supposed to believe Roma were holding out for 50m?
