Re: Suarez Bites No More (we can but hope)
Would rather see him play in the Clasico imo. Pepe vs Suarez.

I think allowing him to train is a possibility. Doubt you'll see a complete reduced ban though, still reckon that stays as is.

allowing him to train is a MUST imo, can't imagine forbidding him to train is tenable with employment laws etc.
It was a ridiculous sentence anyway, so it's good this is dealt with by CAS

Re: Suarez Bites No More (we can but hope)
Luis Suarez has arrived at a Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) hearing that will determine whether the Uruguay striker will have to serve a four-month ban for biting an opponent.
The former Liverpool player brushed aside photographers and refused to comment as he arrived by taxi at Cas' headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The 27-year-old's legal team are confident the ban will be halved.
If successful, Suarez would be available to play from August 25.

Re: Suarez Bites No More (we can but hope)
Think it will get rejected, there's some parts of the ban which realistically could get overturned.
But I don't believe the 4 month ban is one of them.

Would be an absolute disgrace if it gets reduced...

Re: Suarez Bites No More (we can but hope)
Frankly the ban is excessive. It should have been just a ban from international football, what you do at an int level should not affect club competitions. I think there are legal grounds to reduce the "all football related" ban.

Re: Suarez Bites No More (we can but hope)
No it's not excessive at all, it's the 3rd time he has bitten an opponent.
The only part of it that maybe excessive is the fact he's not allowed to train.
The ban itself is extremely fair.

The ban isn't excessive and it's what he deserves.
Barcelona knew what they were getting into buying a player who was already banned.

Doesn't matter what competition you're biting people in, you're *bleep* biting people in competitions in the first place.
"Oh he murdered that guy in New York but he's never done that in Florida so let's give him a pass and leave him to it lads"

Re: Suarez Bites No More (we can but hope)
yeah, but if you get a red for breaking a guys nose with an elbow, or leg with a tackle, in the league, a couple of years later if you do it at the WC you won't get a 4 month ban from everything because "you did it before".
It's just because biting is more memorable than other forms of fouling that peple even remember lol.

Re: Suarez Bites No More (we can but hope)
It's more plausible that someone could get a nasty elbow or tackle in a game by accident, even if it (a case so bad that it would warrant suspension) was intentional.
There's no conceivable way to accidentally bite someone on the pitch. It's just an action so far removed from the game that when you see it happen three times in four years...

But fouling/tackling is a part of the game. Although the we have seen cases with deliberate intentions to hurt another player. It's a contact sport and it's a given and there are rules against things like that.
Biting players has nothing to do with the sport nor should it ever be an issue. This guy has done it 3 times.

Re: Suarez Bites No More (we can but hope)
Pepe has been caught stomping on Messi's hand, this would be his what third offense of intentionally trying to hurt a player? where was his 4 month ban no practice.
there are many incidents of crazy players doing somewhat of the same thing, of course biting is the weirdest one of them all but would it be fair to give some punishment for being weird? whereas the other incidents were just as bad, or possibly worse.

Re: Suarez Bites No More (we can but hope)
Suarez will learn the result of his appeal on Thursday.
CAS said in a statement: “The Court of Arbitration for Sport will announce its decision in the matter Luis Suárez, FC Barcelona and the Uruguayan FA on Thursday 14 August 2014, at around 3pm (2pm BST).
“At the request of the appellants and with the agreement of Fifa, the CAS has conducted an expedited arbitration procedure. As a consequence, the CAS Panel has accepted to render its decision within a short period of time but with grounds to follow later.”

Sensible decision, the ban from training was indeed excessive.
