Suarez - among the best?
There have been many great Strikers to ply they trade in the Premier League. Currently, Suarez is head and shoulders above the rest of his striking counterparts in the league. Now, if you were to make a list of the best 10 strikers from the past and the present, where would you place Suarez?
Does he even make the cut?
The talent is there, but he has really only been in beast mode (pun) for a season and half.
Is this enough to put him along side strikers who dominated for 5-8 years?
Your thoughts please

Re: Suarez - among the best?
currently he is not head and shoulder above the rest, that's propaganda. Aguero is every bit as good as suarez, but Aguero has fitness issues. And to be head and shoulder above competition, you have to showcase an uncanny ability to rip the biggest teams in the league when you meet them. I am sorry to say that Suarez miserably failed in that exercise last season.
Scrub killing is nice and all, but what really define greatness is what you do against big teams, in big moments, in big games. Not packing Norwich with 4 goals, waiting for stokes to troll on begovic but disappearing when mourinho is in town.
right now, suarez is one massive season in epl scrub killing, which still falls short in big moments. Kun when he joined the EPL had a better campaign imo, still recall him destroying united. RVP last year at arsenal and first year at united was also better.
Still have to command his ability and skills tho, he is quite clearly a superior player with superior abilities that is enjoying his prime and scoring at an elite rate. just not the inflated product medias are trying to sell.

Yes, him and Aguero are comfortably above the rest. He's a bit better than Aguero imo.
Give him another year i guess, He's played with some shit players in the past three years. Last season was a nice surprise.

Re: Suarez - among the best?
let me get this straight, you can be among the best strikers without scoring against the best teams? especially with the league title just within reach?

Re: Suarez - among the best?
Im sure Shelvey, Cole, Downing, Jay Spearing, Adam etc compare to Benzema, Di Maria, Khedira, Alonso etc but lets leave that for another day?
By GL logic Adam Johnson is one of the best players to play in the Premier League.
Chad is so mad nowdays.

Re: Suarez - among the best?
Yeah, I would put him up there with Aguero and RVP as the best in the league. If he stays at Pool, I would like to see him continue this form for another 2 years + in the CL.
As for his ranking for best PL strikers in history? Way too early imo.

Re: Suarez - among the best?
These are the Strikers who 'stood out" in the PL era
Bergkamp
Henry
Drogba
Shearer
Prime Owen
Van Nistelrooy
Cantona
I would place players like RVP, Rooney, Wright, Cole, Sheringham, Fowler, Torres, Zola (and Suarez + Aguero) on a bracket below the top tier.
For 2 reasons :
1. Not at the peak for long enough
2. Did not have that aura of a Star player

You gotta add Zola to that top tier imo.

Re: Suarez - among the best?
The best ST in the PL era is Henry. Suarez is ONLY second to him. That's it. If he repeats the season he just had 2 more times and wins the PL then he would've had equaled Thierry as well.
Unfortunately, his days are probably numbered at Liverpool.

Re: Suarez - among the best?
Prime Owen better than Suarez Millions of Liverpools fans who watched every minute of Owen's career at Liverpool agree that Suarez shits on him day in day out even in his prime and yet you're making these half assed tiers.

Just saw that 'Prime Owen'.
He would be in the 2nd (arguably 3rd), tier. Simply because of consistency, Though he was monstrous when he was on his game for pool.

What truth?
Clearly ain't even watched the majority of the players you're dismissing and giving such an asinine opinion on the topic.
Suarez better striker than Shearer? Nistelrooy? Drogba?
Pls wait outside.

Re: Suarez - among the best?
Suarez had one good season, hasn't played in the champions league either and flopped against big teams.
not even breaking into the top 15 if you ask me unless he repeats it and actually wins something.

Van Nistelrooy over Suarez
The guy was a WC machine in the box but that's it. Poaching and scoring was all he did. Suarez is the most all around attacker PL has seen along with Henry.

Your lack of comprehension skills is killing me.
Best STRIKERS. NOT all-around players.
F***ing read. Suarez has no business even being mentioned in the same class as RVN as a striker.
Good God. The lack of awareness............

Re: Suarez - among the best?
45% of his goals came against the bottom 4 last season, he's like 1 in 4 against the other top 4 teams.
I hate to do this to you but you but yeah.... although i wouldn't go as far as to call him a flop tbf.

Bergkamp and Cantona are definitely in that tier but they never EVER had a season like Suarez had. He's surpassed both.
Only second to HENRY like I said.
