Some pre match stats and facts

*Jose Mourinho's last six Premier League defeats have come against a manager who has a surname starting in P (Pulis, Poyet, Pardew, Pochettino, Pulis, Pellegrini).
*Tony Pulis has won two Premier League games against Jose Mourinho - no manager has won three PL games against the Portuguese.
*Both Roberto Di Matteo and Andre Villas-Boas managed their last Premier League game as Chelsea boss against WBA at the Hawthorns before they were sacked.

*Manchester City have only won three of their previous 18 Premier League trips to Goodison Park (L10 D5).
*Of players to have made 25+ Premier League appearances, Sergio Aguero has the best minutes per goal ratio in the history of the competition (110.5 mins - 79 goals in 8729 mins).

Arsene Wenger 'feels no sympathy' toward Liverpool for selling Raheem Sterling.

Liverpool is in a position they can make their own decisions. They refused to sell us Suarez, so I cannot feel too much sympathy for them.

I personally rate Raheem Sterling. We will see that in the longer term. I personally don’t think that Sterling was making a lot of drama. It’s just during the transfer window that that happened.

During the season, the boy was quiet – never made any stupid statement. I don’t think he made too much noise. He’s a quality player. They bought Firmino. We will see what he will produce. He is a similar player.

But let’s remember, two years ago with Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling, they scored over a hundred goals. To score more than a hundred goals in the Premier League, you need special quality, and Sterling was part of that.

why would he feel sympathy for anyone. he himself lost so many players to City. Only his reasoning seems little odd.

Sterling wasn't exactly "quiet" during the season... between the photos of him using laughing gas, his unsanctioned (and in hindsight clearly agenda-driven) interview with BBC, and several other instances of "leaks" coming from his representatives throughout the season he was actually pretty noisy within the metaphor that Wenger is using. About the only time he was "quiet" was when he was away on his mid-season break that Rodgers gave him to rest and recuperate.

Let's not equate Sterling's involvement in the 100 goal season to that of Suarez and Sturridge. He wasn't even a starter until December and even then didn't hit it off until well in February.

On all accounts, the 50m for Sterling is great business for us as he was a player that wouldn't even be starting this season had he stayed. Sturridge, Coutinho, Benteke, and Firmino would be ahead of him.

Hell, Sterling was set to go out on loan in January of that season due to his poor/ineffectual performances in the first half of the season. Rodgers changed his mind due to some injuries and a talk with Sterling in the final week or so of the window, if memory serves.

Man City 2 - 0 Watford
Chelsea 1 - 2 Crystal Palace
Liverpool 0 - 3 West Ham

City - played four, won four, scored 10, conceded 0. Looking ominously good.

Chelsea - played four, won one, drawn one, lost three, conceded 9 goals. Looking strangely average.

Too early to draw any real insights though. But points dropped is points dropped.

Then again, we're not off to a stellar start either.

That said, City do look like they really mean business.

There's no doubt that City look really great. They also look ruthless. But I am 100% they'll hit a ditch at one point of the season where they'll take something like 5 points from 15, we just need to keep grinding out these results while we're still trying to find our scoring touch Laughing

It is really good business - that was crazy money, talented as Sterling is.

But to say he'd be a bench player at Liverpool right now seems premature given that he's been starting (and doing well enough from what I've watched) at Man City, who've so far looked head and shoulders above the rest of the PL at the moment ...

Don't bother yourself with that Chums. Liverpool fans have been spouting that bullshit in the general section since Sterling made noise about leaving.

I had already said that I didnt want to lose Sterling and he will be good for City. I think RA also had same opinion. Not sure if he will be great (worth of 50m pounds) for them. He gets so much space and he is utilising it properly, credit to him. But for Liverpool, there was no option but to sell him, that just comes down to whether we could reinvest that 50m properly .

Anyways, I had said before even the season started, Arsenal will come close to challenging the title to either Chelsea or ManCity in this season. Chelsea are not quite out of it but they are having some meltdown there, losing games at home and Mourinho already started criticizing his players.
Arsenal just need to keep getting points till they find the right formation-position of the players. I mean you guys have Özil-sanchez starting and then you have players like Ox coming of the bench.
