Yeah. He said a part of his philosophy is to use a 1-4-3-3. He used it with Ned. but Strootman got injured so they shifted to a 5-3-2. At his opening press conference he said he can't play a 4-3-3, because United don't have the players for it.

This is the real story here. How does Di Maria fit in at United?

United don't have the protection of a true DM to play him in the midfield of their current 3-5-2. Neither does he truly fit a wingback role in that system. Therefore, the only slots left available are the 3 devoted attackers (the CAM and the two striker positions) and they're already sufficiently staffed.

With that in mind, the only way I can see him fitting into the squad is with a tactical shift to either a 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2.

4-4-2

The 4-3-3looks to be about the only truly viable option. THe others simply have too many issues in midfield and defence. However, I have questions as to whether MAta or Rooney will be content or effective from a wide-forward position. There are reasons Van Gaal opted for the 3-5-2, and Di Maria does little to address them.

Manchester City have asked Angel Di Maria to delay the decision over his future as they consider a move for the winger. Real Madrid have offered the Argentina international to the Premier League champions for £60m plus £8m in add-ons.

Di Maria running after money while in the peak of his career, what a pity. I hope his career goes downwards from here on.

On the other hand it's a great win for football that PSG couldn't sign him, that's a positive from this transfer.

And of course, a fantastic signing for Man Utd who prove themselves to still be a big big club, by signing a world class player in the peak of his career from the CL winners who desperately wanted to keep him.

60 mil pounds base (75 mil euros) + 8 mil pounds in bonuses (10 mil euros)... is not gifting Di Maria  If you notice, Ozil has just 2 less assists than Di Maria and he didn't even play in La Liga last season.  Also, Messi and Ronaldo scored 250 goals or something each in that period; so you shouldn't compare.

Insane amount of money for Di Maria.  I hope he does well.  The thing to watch our for is his durability in the EPL...  he's had injury problems every season at Real Madrid and La Liga is really soft.

tbh though he could of gone for 500m and it wouldn't of done a difference to madrid you guys don't need the money, 1m or 500m next year your still splashing insane money on some player you guys think you need.
Madrid have the talent though to pull through without di maria but in my opinion it just causes unnecessary problems i mean you just won the CL with this squad and it's not like Di Maria decreased within 5 months,

Business is businees... you have stakeholders to answer to (socios). I'm sure Apple and Google don't need money either but they'll keep doing business. If you don't, you end up like Microsoft and end up being a has-been. No different imo.
