Surprised by the amount of truth bombs I was dropping in this thread. The amount of arse licking he was getting after the tail end of last season was ridiculously OTT. It was like the previous 36+ months were instantly erased from the history books or something.

Good player but his style of play is too chaotic and erratic for a top team. Not surprised Utd are much better without him. Hamez >>>>>>>>>

Yup because people can't praise players for performances they are putting in and have to take in their entire history as footballers.

Hazard has carried us to the League title, further cemented his status as an elite footballer and along with Neymar is on the cusp of finally breaking the Messi/CR duopoly. Di Maria's the one that will be forgotten. Like Ramires a couple of seasons ago he was also highly influential in a cup double, doesn't make him an untouchable.

Hazard defiantly claimed he was the best player in the League & emphatically backed up his words in the ensuing months. Hows that for cojones?

He's been a one man wrecking crew since Southampton away. Every single one of Costa, Cesc, Oscar & Matic (Willian is a non-factor) form has significantly dropped since the turn of the year while Hazard is routinely making match winning contributions in highly marginal victories.

And you keep mentioning PSG as if he wasn't our best player. Not his fault our team couldn't defend set pieces against 10 men.

Lol at their being no competition by the way. City were joint top on New Years. Hazard has been the main man en route to his first League title which is why he's the consensus PoTY while your bumboy Aguero has been shite in this run-in. Time to accept reality, you were wrong about Hazard (along with 90% of the forum apart from donnies like Valk, Ganso etc) and I was right.

Man U executives are giving too much free reign to LVG... remember that he had massive problems with Ribery and wanted him out and Bayern resisted.

His method is overly tactical and that will never work with players that have a lot of individual skill and need the room to express themselves. Far too rigid. Di Maria (and Falcao) need some room within the tactics to operate and he doesn't want to offer them any.

It was actually the opposite. LVG was adamant that Ribery should not be sold and he liked Ribery initially more than Robben in his line-up as Ribery is much more disciplined.

LVG also played a 3-5-2 with Oranje where he gave a free reign to both of his attackers. LVG was one who originally liked conventional wingers who are fast and stretch the field but he has always evolved and has been open to playing Inverted Wingers, Double Strikers, 3 Man Backline, etc.

Ribery is known to be stupid and looses his temper often in the field and has not gelled well with a lot of coaches and players. So he should not be a benchmark to judge anyway.

LVG gave Di Maria the 2nd ST position and a lot freedom. Falcao does not offer hold up play so unless he is scoring he is useless. Falcao is probably the last person who needs creative freedom as he isn't a creative player at all.

It's easy to blame LVG for all issues

I think Hazard is the best player in the EPL but he is massively over-rated by you. He is still not a huge game changes in a top CHL Game for that matter and his end product although improved greatly is still not as high a 1 Man Wrecking Crew should be.

The level of EPL despite the huge money inflow has massively fallen which is being shown by the tactical cluelessness and horrible displays in CHL time and again by the EPL teams. Most of the league were in disarray during the start of the EPL & Chelsea have a lot of fantastic players with Costa, Matic, Fab & a top coach in Mourinho so there is little scope for a 1 man Wrecking machine. I think the over-reliance of Hazard is largely due to the fact that Oscar, Willian, Cuadrado have flopped and are not elite level players.

When it comes to CHL his performance with Lille and Chelsea have been nowhere near enough to justify his talent. So while he may be a top EPL player, in the European Scene he is nowhere to be found. I think this praise would be more warranted when he produces 2-3 brilliant displays and gets Chelsea to the CHL Final level. There is no logical reason for Chelsea to loose to PSG with this team as Mou as coach

Nah, the thing here is di maria is not playing in the midfield in United.

And as Footyfan pointed out, whenever we played some other formation be it a 3-5-2 or a 4-4-2 diamond he was deployed in a role which allowed him to fully express himself. He had the creative freedom. Now because lately the team has gone back to that successful 4-3-3/4-1-4-1 system with adm on the wing there is more impetus on him to curb his attacking play and track back which he is finding it little hard.
His confidence was shot right from the mid season for some reason (personal probably) when he was playing in that creative role as a front man. He was finding it hard to go past players. And now since the system itself is changed recently he is finding himself stuck in that middle point. Neither too creative nor too rigid.
LvG stated that he was bought to play as a winger. So the club viewed him as CR's natural heir as the pacey wide man (no.7 shirt). Expectations were huge. Alas when the confidence went downhill after a point, his performance accompanied that as well.

Mata suffered the same problem. When he came here he was the marquee player. All raids were supposed to go through him. And bogged down by expectation he crumbled and subsequently got sidelined for slump. Now that he has worked hard and learned how to deliver within the system he is back in the mix. Lesser pressure along with his own willingness now to play for the team has earned him a starting a spot. This was the mata Mourinho wanted at Chelsea. who could put in a shift defensively.

Same thing can happen with di maria in the next season. When there is Lesser pressure on him he can make that low key reentry and shine similarly. As I said earlier it will be down to di maria's attitude from now on. If he have the right attitude, we have no worries regarding whether he will be a hit.

I, of course, went and looked at Utd's website, Soccernet, GL's confirmed transfer thread, hell, I almost emailed Di Maria himself and the most I found was him missing a plane to meet up with his teammates. Which can be explained by a host of reasons including forgetfulness.

At least wait until he leaves before announcing he left Sad

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has welcomed Angel Di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain, with the Argentina international's transfer from Manchester United moving ever closer.

United manager Louis van Gaal revealed on Saturday night that Di Maria had not joined up with his team-mates on their pre-season tour as expected.

PSG coach Laurent Blanc added shortly afterwards that there is a "good possibility" the former Real Madrid man will move to Parc des Princes this summer, and Ibrahimovic has wasted no time in offering his hospitality.

"Welcome to him, he will bring his qualities, he is a good player," the Swede told Le Parisien. "With him the team will be better."

His stats weren't that bad actually, I think he had the second most assists in the prem, despite the limited amount of game time.

His biggest problem is that he is mentally and physically a p__y to play in the England. We weren't obviously his first choice and he doesn't want to be at the club, so good riddance.

Let him take the easy way out and enjoy a weak league.
