Re: The Bundesliga Thread
*bleep* joke this season.
Nothing against Bayern winning the league but it shouldn't be done after 2 months or so.

it is a joke, Dortmund have 7 points out of 8 games, that's a serious crisis, and Leverkusen have turned into Hoffenheim for some reason (Roger Schmidt).

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Another clean sheet by Yann Sommer. Very smart game, Hannover was helpless. I'm happy because of Xhaka's goal. It's important won, next match in league is against Bayern.
And my comment on the Hannover defense:

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
BMG is disciplined as balls.
Dortmund need a rest, too. But I reckon they'll bounce back during the next few weeks, Gündogan and Reus being back, Subotic and Hummels as well... That'll probably bring enough to the side to rally.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Was very surprised to read that at 57 Favre is the oldest coach working in the BuLi today. Always seemed to me somehow as kind of young and upcoming still.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Well, his team looks fresh and he likes to use young players, so probably that reflects back on him.

Also, and this might just be me, but I was unaware of Favres general existence before he signed on with BMG, so he still got that new coach smell in my mind.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Well, I read about him when he was at Hertha BSC, but frankly, he didn't really catch the eye (or the headlines) then. (And that was when Hertha reached the 4th place in the BL... How on earth did Lucien Favre more or less stay under the radar then?!)

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
We're francophile enough to manage.
That being said, I think when Berlin reached 4th, we mostly thought it was the likes of Voronin etc. overperforming, if I remember correctly.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Eh? RWO I thought you follow the Swiss league? He had a long and successful time for Zürich
As far as I remember he was hired by Hertha when for some reason Swiss football was on vogue in the mid 00s.
He was thought of as the Swiss Wenger or some shit
I remember his Hertha spell vividly, I thought he was a complete clown back then as first thing he did was get "gefühlt" 5-10 scrubs from the Swiss league, Raffael, van Bergen, Lustenberger.
I never like it when a coach takes over a team and wants a new team first thing. Bad sign.
Didn't get along with Pantelic etc as far as I remember. Needed Swiss players around him to feel at home. However already then in his second year Hertha had a surprisingly good season 2008/09, could've reached CL, or even won the title LOL if Favre hadn't had the brilliant idea of benching captain Arne Friedrich out of nowhere for the last, decisive games.
So on the last matchday they lost 4:0 against last place Karsruhe and due to that didn't reach CL
Then everything fell apart and he was duly fired, Hertha was relegated after the season.
Didn't perform well for Hertha imo, made a lot of mistakes and was mentally not up to it yet.
But when he joined Gladbach he quickly won my complete respect by NOT crying for new players first, but turn a hopeless 2. Liga-bound team (one which was not cheap tbf) into a top team within months.
Immense performance by him, and he's proven and repeated it since.
Good man.

Only since Basel managed that infamous 1:0 against BayernHapless_Hans wrote:Eh? RWO I thought you follow the Swiss league? He had a long and successful time for Zürich
Probably because he's a Romand and prefers to speak French and thus he collected some players who could understand him?Hapless_Hans wrote:Needed Swiss players around him to feel at home.
Sound like he needed some time to properly adjust to the Bundesliga.Hapless_Hans wrote:Didn't perform well for Hertha imo, made a lot of mistakes and was mentally not up to it yet.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Bundesliga.com compares the star players for the Sunday top match Borussia M'gladbach vs Bayern München and starts with the goalies - doesn't look so bad for Yann Sommer (left column) there ^^

I guess Werder and HSV want to get relegated together, so that they can continue their rivalry in the 2nd Bundesliga
