Re: The Summer Transfer Rumour Thread - Part II
Torres out, Destro in would be fantastic.
We have the money to do it as well, we just need a buyer. I don't think Roma would reject an offer of 30m odd for Destro.

But do we not still have to get rid of a foreign player?

I would assume Destro would replace Torres and Schwarzer would simply be left out of the EPL squad.
We'd be fine then.

We have a week, if anything happens with Torres, I expect movement on at the very least, deadline day, if not. We're done.

Re: The Summer Transfer Rumour Thread - Part II
Only disappointment of the window for me will have been our options up front (provided no one else comes in). Costa, early days notwithstanding, looks to be just what the doctor ordered in terms of our first/best XI, but when your only back-up options are Torres and Drogba, you've not done as much as you could and really should have done.

Re: The Summer Transfer Rumour Thread - Part II
I agree, an injury to Costa would be very bad.
I think Drogba is fine, if we can make sure he knows he needs to play as a target man/poacher and not try to do what he use to.
Still, Torres out would be fantastic.
That said, Ramires or Mikel out for Khedira would be a dream too.

Having strikers whose 'roles' include everything but score (no amount of preparation will make him as good a goalscorer as he was - and that person's far behind him now) is precisely what our problem's been the last 3 years. We needed a back-up who knew where the back of the net was and we haven't gotten that.
Do you trust Drogba or Torres in FA Cup games? Latter-stage Champions League ties? If the answer is no, then it means Costa playing every 3 days.
It's a huge problem, for me.

I trust Drogba in those games, not every week but in the important ones.
I wouldn't trust Torres to cut my dinner up for me, he'd miss and hit the plate.

Re: The Summer Transfer Rumour Thread - Part II
Well well well.
Chelsea will have to pay £16million for Fernando Torres to leave Stamford Bridge
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2733697/Fernando-Torres-demands-16million-two-remaining-years-Chelsea-contract-THEN-ll-agree-leave-Stamford-Bridge.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
Torres is demanding his current contract be paid out if we have to terminate his contract. He also is rejecting offers due to the fact he won't get the same money as his current deal.
It is the mail, so perhaps this is all BS, but annoying regardless.

Re: The Summer Transfer Rumour Thread - Part II
Lot of strong rumours swirling around on twitter the last hour or so that we're about to sign a big striker, started off by Rodney Marsh on the Sportsbar earlier saying he was being told that.
Now Brazil's Globoesporte (apparently very reliable?) saying there's a possibility we could be sending Torres to Monaco with Falcao coming the other way.
All a bit crazy atm.

Also, Saville has undergone a medical at wolves.
Two options I'd love, Doumbia or Destro.
Falcao would cost too much.

Re: The Summer Transfer Rumour Thread - Part II
Yeah, I was at a private party with him and Roman after the game this weekend. I brought up Falcao for you and that was my answer.
I then turned to Roman and told him to get Destro for 25m.

Interesting, as I was told precisely the opposite by the big man on board his yacht docked off Monte Carlo yesterday

Re: The Summer Transfer Rumour Thread - Part II
So who would we want to replace Torres, if he leaves?
There are the obvious, Cavani, Falcao, Destro. But what would be our other options?
Doumbia, Bony (Damn, CIV have produced some good CF's) Remy, who else?

Can't think of any beyond those you mentioned. Unless it's somebody completely out of left-field.

Yilmaz?
I am not sure I want either Cavani or Falcao, both will want to be starters and could deter Costa. May as well keep Costa as our main CF and bring in a capable back up, eg. Destro, Doumbia, Bony, Remy.

Re: The Summer Transfer Rumour Thread - Part II
Jokes aside, I have to agree. As nice as a Cavani or Falcao would be, I just can't see both Costa and one of them at the same club.
A Destro would be wonderful.
