Shots fired @ Wenger, once more...
“Sparta [Prague] will for me always be something I’m asked about because I’m a huge fan, but at the moment it’s not on the cards.”
I guess he is gone with Podolski.

Any club would swap Poldi for a decent CB?
Tbf, he was set to leave and Giroud got injured.

I think Joel, Rosicky and Podolski will leave us, 3 players that can give us good minutes but Wenger refuses to use them. You would think for a club with injury crises players would get chances but not at Arsenal.

In brighter news, Mikel Arteta has apparently agreed to extend his contract by a year, according to Veysey.

One more year without addressing the hole in midfield. Yay.

Not at all Arteta's fault, which I'm sure wasn't what you were insinuating.
Wenger knows that Arteta isn't capable of starting as DM for an entire season or even the majority of the season, whether he'll do something about it in the near future is what's worrisome.

Better to just let him go and save the money for the next manager.

bah gawd
makes sense seeing as Becks lives in London
aside from us, Beckham knows Arsenal are the only big team his son will ever get a chance at playing for coming from the youth set up
would be great to see another Beckham in the premier league in a few years down the line

I call it good news on the basis that Arteta is miles better than Flamini in just about everything except running around a lot. Also, there's value to holding on to your experienced players. I can't see Arteta staying for another year being a bad thing at all.

Arteta is a leader in the dressing room. Helps out with the kids and is a great professional. Good to keep him for experience.
But we need a DM
but then we all said that in 2009

Re: The Official Winter Transfer Rumours Thread
Just to clarify: I have nothing against Arteta. We shouldn't be letting guys like him (OR ROSICKY FOR THAT MATTER) walk away after all that they have helped us through.
But knowing how this club has been run, it starkly implies that there will be no (long term) replacement being signed. That is what I am getting at.

Re: The Official Winter Transfer Rumours Thread
Arteta will be slowly phased out next season like Rosicky. The guy can't even complete a full 90 anymore. We will probably sign a young inexperienced defensive mid, someone like Imbula.

Re: The Official Winter Transfer Rumours Thread
We already have a good future dmid in chambers. Problem is he has to do 50 other things right now because our already thin defense has been injury plagued
Chambers can't play fullback long term and while he's done a job at cb his prone to rashness and talent/ability on the ball means he's better suited to be a Dm long term. Can't see him being a star top cb but could be a class dm
Buy a cb and a utility defender in January and play chambers where he belongs

Good thing this game does not require much running around then.

Probably wouldn't take too much to get him. Definitely on loan.

Good thing this game does not require the sole attribute of running around.
Don't think you'll find many who will disagree with the fact that we need a more athletic player there. But not keeping Arteta on just because he shouldn't be starting? Silly.

We should sell Campbell too, one year left in contract and no way is he extending, I see no point in loaning him out if there are offers to get a transfer fee.

You can have all our bench players...we dont use any of them, Wenger, Podolski, Rosicky, Campbell, Flamini and Steve Bould all for €22.5.

Can't believe you'd even joke about selling our backup 4th CB.

Re: The Official Winter Transfer Rumours Thread
Speaking of jokes, Arsenal are reported to have been scouting Paulo Dybala and can apparently have him for the small price of £31m.

40m€ for a 20yo striker when we have Danny and Yaya and a few good prospects behind them? Oh with Theo and Alexis and Giroud in there as well?
