I haven't watched Rüdiger play much at all so I have no opinion but he seems like one of those names potentially poised for a big step up. I've heard he's done well this season / last season? Who knows. Or we could just buy Winston Reid.

Looks like Yohan Cabaye is unsettled at PSG and could be allowed to leave this January. We've always been loosely linked with him.

Would anyone take him?

January might be a good time for us to snap up 1 or 2 players but Cabaye should never be one of them.

Hummels and Sami khedira should be our targets.

Imo it would only be another stopgag, Arteta-like solution for DM. He's in his late twenties and isn't physical enough for the role we need. More athletic but then again, Arteta was much more athletic three years ago.

Goal with a rather lazy link to Christoph Kramer today. He's on loan at BMG for the season, so very unlikely he'll be able to join in January.

Winston Reid and Fabian Schar both in the last year of their contracts. Couple of potential bargains there.

You have no chance at Hummels in January, neither has anyone else.

Jay, as you rightly point out Kramer is on loan to BMG for the season, so it's not just unlikely but more or less impossible that he transfers in January.
