I would say a team is at is most dangerous when it has the ball.

How are you meant to score when you dont have the ball.

“Every Monday he comes into work having compiled a defensive report on the opposition.

That’s his project, working with our video analysts to provide players with the best information.

“This week, for example, he will talk about Manchester City’s angles of attack, their set-pieces, their movement, as well as focussing on individuals.

“The lads will be made aware of Dzeko’s strengths and weaknesses, the best way to nullify Silva, Milner’s incredible work-rate, everything.

“That takes care of Monday to Thursday. On Friday it’s my turn when we look at ways to get at opponents. Put simply, Alan concentrates on how not to lose and I then find ways to win.”

Even if it was just a joke as he claims he wouldn't have said it if he wasn't thinking about it.

Mike Ashley has broken his silence on Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew’s future and told The Independent that if he loses the Premier League game at Stoke City on Monday night he is “finished”.

On Friday night, the billionaire club owner’s lawyers, insisted those comments, which were made late on Thursday night in a London bar, were a joke and intended to be tongue in cheek.

But the strength of the remarks will still shock Newcastle fans, whose team are bottom of the Premier League.

“He’s got one more game,” Ashley said. “If we lose against Stoke on Monday night then he’s gone. I have had enough.”

Making a throat-cutting gesture, Ashley added: “Dead. Finished. Over. One more game then that’s it. What would you do? I have spent a lot of money on that club, it’s cost me a lot. I won’t put up with it any more. Honestly, answer me, what would you do? One more loss and he’s gone, he’s over, finished.”

Ashley was speaking outside The Golden Lion pub in London’s Soho district on Thursday night where he was having a drink with a friend.

When asked if he had informed Pardew about his decision or lined up any replacements, the billionaire said: “That’s all I’m prepared to say about it and now that I’ve said it, it’s out there. You can do what you want with it. There’s only so much I can take.”

Newcastle have secured only three points all season and have won only five matches in the whole of 2014.

Until now, Ashley has backed Pardew, who was appointed in 2010. The two held “clear the air” talks only two weeks ago but Ashley’s comments will add further pressure on the beleaguered manager. Alan Pardew Pardew has faced increasing pressure from supporters

Pardew signed an eight-year contract with the club in September 2012 but there is a break clause in the deal if Ashley decides to sack him. Last week Newcastle fans launched a protest campaign against Pardew with more than 30,000 leaflets demanding his sacking before the 2-2 home draw against Hull City.

Ashley’s lawyer on Friday night added: “Mr Ashley responded, tongue in cheek, that Mr Pardew had two more games before being sacked.  To put this into perspective, over the past few weeks certain reporters have stated that they believe that Mr Pardew has two more games before being sacked. Mr Ashley was therefore ‘humouring’ your reporter.”

Don't sound like a joke to me Laughing

How can he say that and NOT sack him now? Even if they win by 50 next game you'd think he's got to go

It went like this.

He said those comments, asked if he wanted to retract them and said no you can write it.

Then his lawyers came out and said he was "joking".

Tbh I'm not being funny it doesn't sound at all like he was joking at all and the lawyers are covering his *bleep* up.

Tbh though now it's out there even if he was going to sack him he won't just to spite people.

It's the Independent too, don't think they'd run it like this if it wasn't pretty clear he was actually not joking...

Still, to say this kind of thing to journalist... sounds like Pardew isn't Newcastles main problem.

They are both problems but Pardew is a problem which is much easier to get rid of.

Plus ignoring all the problems Ashley poses having a competent manager who doesn't make watching games a chore and without any joy would be a god send.

You're making the rather larger assumption that Ashley will hire a competent manager... I find that unlikely. Besides, all the decent managers have jobs from what i can tell.

Maybe he hires a french manager since all his players are french anyhow Laughing

Maybe so, but quite frankly it's highly likely the manager coming in wouldn't be anywhere near as bad it just can't be lol.

Managers since Robson: Souness, Roeder, Allardyce, Kinnear, Shearer, Hughton and Pardew.

I deserve someone competent ffs.

Moyes is a very good manager. Specially for a club like Newcastle he will really be their best manager in a long long time.

If anything, he will at least make players like Aarons and other scrub kid mole hypes good enough for Arsenal etc

Aarons would just be dropped so you can play Wilshere and Ozil on the wing brah.

In any case this is horrific Laughing

In 2014, under Pulis and Warnock, Palace have won 37 PL points, with GD of +1

#nufc under Pardew have won only 19, with GD of -27

As I said I don't think he'll sack him now his words are in public.

He'll keep him just to spite the fans, he's that much of a *bleep*.

But I do hope we lose but that's been the case since god knows how long now.
