He was amazing at Sociedad. I actually bought into the hype and its sad to see him this way but he can still turn it around on loan

Exclusive: #AFC make approach to Real Madrid for Martin Odegaard. Madrid considering. Arteta big fan & Odegaard keen on regular first team football. Not a given, other interest in him. More on @SkySportsNews

You know you've fallen from grace when you're excited about signing Thimmy's Brother.

I dont to know what to say but I thought about having him at Liverpool, because Milner is old, Gini would leave us at the end of the season. Ox and Keita are both luxury signings and perma injured .
So Odegaard would have been a good experiment for us.

Martin Ødegaard to Arsenal, here we go! The agreement has been reached after last contacts today between #AFC and Real Madrid.
— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) January 24, 2021
Loan until the end of the season, salary paid by Arsenal. Arteta’s call key to convince the player. Medicals pending - then deal will be announced.

Re: Martin Ødegaard - Welcome to Arsenal
Odegaard is living off the first half of la liga last season. He was nowhere near that level in the second half. So we will find out maybe what’s going on, whether the issue with his knee is persistent and real, or if he just had no connection with Zidane. Wish him luck

it's a long history dating back to last year this time. You would be better off googling it. But basically Ozil played for us pre-Corona, he was doing okay, nothing special really. Then the break came, and he made some public comments about China's treatment of the Uighurs. China responded by pulling Arsenal from their TV stations. Arsenal's board responded by dropping Ozil from the squad for obvious commercial and political reasons. Arteta though has publicly said Ozil has been dropped for "footballing reasons". In between all of that Ozil also refused to accept a paycut that majority other players accepted due the impact of Covid. Since then a lot of mini-jabs at each other between Ozil and club went down. And the rest is history, thankfully!
Odegaard wouldn't really be his replacement if he comes and impresses with us because surely you guys will recall him in that case. For now he is just meant to help out Emile Smith-Rowe with creative responsibility in the 10 position.

Re: Martin Ødegaard - Welcome to Arsenal
Politics was probably one part of it.
Fact remains that he has been past it for a while and simply doesn't fit the contemporary style of play in vogue in PL.

Re: Martin Ødegaard - Welcome to Arsenal
€2.5m plus paying his salary for a 5 month loan? What are Arsenal smoking? Is he going to play instead of Smith Rowe now?
Re: Martin Ødegaard - Welcome to Arsenal
Competition for Saka, Pepe and Willian, I assume. Rotation with Rowe.

He was a CAM originally. Has excelled both while playing as a CM and RW since then.

Re: Martin Ødegaard - Welcome to Arsenal
I, for one, am excited about this move. Relying on Saka and Smithe Rowe in every game is a good way of cutting their careers short with injuries and ridiculous expectations. Rotation will be good for all involved. And at the end of the day, he can't perform worse than fecking Will I An

More importantly than the pronunciation, just learned that his name means something like "desolate farm"
