I seem to rate Eriksen higher than most of you, but he really has looked quite underwhelming since after the world cup. It’s easy to assume that his issue is a lack of motivation, but if that’s not it, then we might have a problem on our hands - assuming we get him. There’s also Pogba, of course. Screw it, I’ll just go on a hiatus if he performs as inconsistently as I expect him to. He would likely cost us more than €100m, and I’ve reached my limit in terms of how much disappointment he provides. United fans have been incredibly patient with him, but I won’t be as patient if he plays for us.

When on form this guy just dances past players. Wouldn't have taken this long to gain form if the previous coach wasn't a total dick

He’s always been inconsistent, which is why he’s a squad player at age 27. I’m happy to see him do well, but Valencia didn’t exactly make things difficult for him.

He is not a squad player. he was great in ZZ's 3 years at the club and he was Spain's best player before world cup. even in WC every ball ended to him. he was their main man.

Injury + Solari ruined him last season.

Solari ruined him? Laughing it's so funny that isco literally can do sod all game and depending if the team plays good or bad he gets a similar rating especially if he flukes a goal, all of his performances are the same and he is every average overall that why all everyone cares about is his dribbling, his passing, positioning and vision is straight trash, let James start in that 10 role for a couple games he triples isco out put but Zz won't do that though.

People put pressure too early on Isco by calling him el nuevo Iniesta or Zidane when in fact he is much more similar to someone like Guti from a mentality standpoint

Great player to have in the squad in my opinion, can play against anyone and also accepts bench-time

I get that a lot of the RM fans on here hate Solari, I also understand that GL view managers as some kind of omniscient gods who have a hand in everything, but there’s no way Solari in his quarter of a season, «ruined Isco» hmm You know what? SURE! I give up lol

Post by halamadrid2 Thu Jan 09, 2020 8:01 pm

Oh please of course he did

Isco was in desperate need of playing time after his operation to get into some sort of match rhythm. But Solari called him fat and just resigned him to a seat in the stands. He got to play in a Copa game, played well, then went straight to the bench. From then the only way was down. ZZ came back, tried to revive a guy with about 5 mins of match practice and he understandably looked awful. He was on his way out. The club wanted to sell him but then he stayed and a maasive reason for that is the fact that ZZ was our coach. Now ZZ is reaping the rewards for putting his trust in Isco Disco.

Isco is not the only one Solari picked fights with. Marcelo was another one. And how can one forget the reason for why Keylord couldn't even get meaningful minutes in a deadrubber CL game Laughing according to Solari he wasn't a professional. He was lazy in training. Keylord was lazy rofl

Solari didn't ruin Isco as Isco was never ruined to begin with. But Solari was still a terrible manager who the club should have never hired.

is the beef really with solari cos he was a bad manager or cos he didn't play isco? if lopetegui didn't wet the bed solari won't have been hired. lopetegui also had a whole summer to build, something solari wasn't afforded. lopetegui also knew the spanish lot on the team prior to coaching and still couldn't get the best out of any of them (isco had one great game under him as madrid manager against roma, other than that he was null)

solari was bad i agree, but so was lopetegui, and even with lopetegui prior to isco's injury, the kid wasn't lighting the place on fire with his plays. let's keep it real

I am indifferent to discussing Isco for Real Madrid but more so the notion that Isco is our main man or ever was is a joke considering he has been relatively underwhelming for a large majority of international outings for us.

Not due to any coaching mistake he just has barely performed for Spain.

so.. what's going on here?

Is he going to leave? Does Real want to sell him?

Any takers? When is his contract at Real over? How long is it, 10 years? Laughing

What's with this guy anyway, will he play football at a decent level again or is he going to China/Russia/US/Qatar next

At some point in his career the guy was devastated when he didn't get picked for Spain and wanted to leave. Now, he just doesn't give a shit. RM has become a place which nobody wants to leave and it doesn't matter if they never get selected for their respective NTs

There are some rumours out there that Milan want him but with their track record we'd probably be paid in cents

Apparently today he said no to Betis and is considering approaches from both Sevilla and Roma, interesting approaches from 2 ex coaches!

The rejection of Betis is good news for Ceballos.

Waiting on my boy Isco to decide...

I’ll bet he chooses Lopetequi / Sevilla. With Sevilla and Betis plans, this is shaping up to quite a Sevilla rivalry. Who da thought, Sevilla would replace both Barcelona and Valencia as 2nd most competitive city.

And besides ex Madridistas at both, both coaches being ex Madrid coaches as well (and both unjustly dismissed IMO). I’ll be a fan of both!

Arq, i just read this aged post! I disagree (to an extent) in that Isco under Lopetequi was influencial and was slated to be the main man in the build up to that WC in which Lopetequi was dismissed (stupidly IMO) after agreeing to go to Madrid and Hierro (who was a terrible coach at my home team of Oviedo) was appointed.

In the actual tournament, the team including Isco did not live up to expectations. I’m not convinced all blame for this lies with Hierro, but certainly Isco was not influential.

After the tournament Isco took the media criticism personally and reacted badly. Shortly after that he contracted acute appendicitis, came back too soon and has never been the same player since.

Having a new wife and baby resulted in a reluctance to move, pretty well killed any chance of a career recovery.

I do believe he will do well in the twilight of his career in a second level team like Sevilla, Betis or Rona.

We just lost Mkhitaryan so this would make sense positionally, but I don't see it happening. Spaniards and Roma have not been a successful pairing, particularly of late. Coaches, Sporting Directors, and Players. Doesn't seem to matter. It has not borne much fruit. It would not surprise me if Isco stays in Spain and joins Sevilla, where he'd be more comfortable.

Appreciate all Isco did but sometimes he was so incredibly frustrating. Does all these fancy flicks and tricks and doesnt shoot or pass the ball.

Anyway, thanks for your contribution
