Death Note- American remake

Gus Van Sant has been confirmed to direct the film. It is pretty much confirmed that the setting and characters will be American and Van Sant will probably shoot this after he's done with Sea Of Trees. 2016/17 release date.

Would've picked Logan Lerman as Light myself, seems to fit better imo, with age, good guy image (at the start) etc.

Jake Gyllenhaal in Donnie Darko is always how I picture L when I think of a live action version.

And I think Dane DeHaan can pull of the Kira version of Light more convincingly than Lerman. The good guy image should not be too hard to do. The biggest challenge will be the acting within the acting, pretending to be a good guy in front of L even though knowing that L knows he is Kira.
