Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
For a player who could sign a pre-contract for free...
If Wenger wasn't afraid of making it to January without a new DM then I can't see him rushing to spend on one who'd be free in a matter of months.

No way and you all know it.
No we will have to wait a few years for some of the contracts to run out since there will be nobody that will be willing to pay a transfer fee and the wages for any of our striker dead wood.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Arsenal are readying a £7m bid for Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech to replace Wojciech Szczesny. (Star)
Szczesny made two errors against Southampton on New Year's Day and has urged Arsene Wenger to move fast for a fresh No 1.
Cech has been forced onto the bench this season by Belgian Thibaut Courtois and could be willing to move across London for first-team football again.
Arsenal look set to miss out on Yohan Cabaye as the midfielder is likely to re-sign for Newcastle. (Mirror)
PSG look ready to offload Cabaye but are keen on a swap deal involving Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko, who has also been linked with a move to Arsenal.
Another Arsenal target, meanwhile, is also on the move with reports that Ron Vlaar is set to quit Aston Villa for Napoli. (Italian newspaper Il Mattino)
Villa have previously refused to sell their captain despite interest from Arsenal, United and Liverpool but now it appears Napoli have persuaded Villa to part with their man.
Reports in Italy suggest Vlaar has provisionally agreed terms with the Serie A side and can either join them this month or at the end of the season.
Arsenal look set to beat Man Utd to Ipswich's £10m-rated 18-year-old midfielder Teddy Bishop. (Sun)
The teenager joins defender Tyrone Mings on the wanted list for both clubs, but Arsenal are said to be turning their full attention towards Bishop.
Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy noted the increased interest in Bishop ahead of their FA Cup clash with Southampton. “Teddy is attracting almost as much attention as Tyrone.”
Bishop only made his senior debut for Ipswich in the Capital One Cup back in August.
Arsenal are leading the race to sign PSG striker Edinson Cavani. (Star)
The Uruguayan striker was left out of his side's winter training camp, fuelling speculation that he will leave in the summer.
The Gunners are favourites to secure his signature, but could be put off by his £62m price tag.
Liverpool are also interested in signing the forward.
Arsenal are lining up a bid for young German keeper Loris Karius from Mainz (Mirror)
The 21-year-old goalkeeper has impressed this season and is attracting interest from a number of German clubs.
Arsenal are reportedly also keen on the youngster, and want to sign him to provide competition for Wojciech Szczesny.
Karius's contract expires in the summer, which makes him even more appealing to potential suitors.
Arsene Wenger wants Yaya Sanogo, 21, to join a Premier League club on loan, with Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Sunderland all interested. (Star)
Arsenal are edging closer to the signing of Atletico Madrid midfielder Mario Suarez, 27. (Express)
Arsene Wenger is targeting a January move for Everton midfielder James McCarthy (Irish Independent)
The Gunners have had a bid for 16-year-old Polish midfielder Krystian Bielik rejected by Legia Warsaw. (Metro)
Arsenal and Tottenham will battle it out for the signature of Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin. (Squawka)
The Gunners are submitting a £25.5m bid for 22-year-old Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho. (Star)
Arsenal have long been linked with the Portuguese defensive midfielder, and Arsene Wenger is poised to test Sporting's resolve with a sizeable bid in January.
Manchester United are also in the race for the player, but according to reports in Portugal, Arsenal are in the strongest position at present.
The news comes after Wenger admitted his squad needs strengthening in the central midfield area. He said: "If you look at the number of games some players played and the injuries we have with [Jack] Wilshere, [Aaron] Ramsey and [Mikel] Arteta, we're a bit short at the moment in midfield."
AC Milan have told Arsenal and Liverpool that striker Stephan El Shaarawy, 22, will cost £11.5m if they want to sign him in January. (Express)
The Italian club are happy to offload the forward, and a bid in excess of £10m would probably be sufficient to secure his signature.
Previously, the player's agent said that only a "sensational" offer would convince Milan to sell.
Liverpool and Manchester United are also in the frame to sign the youngster.
The Gunners have had a £5m bid for Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic rejected by Dinamo Zagreb (Star)
Winston Reid, the West Ham United defender, could be on his way to the Emirates Stadium with Arsenal planning a £4m move for the player. (Mail)
Chelsea are ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United in the chase for Corinthians forward Malcolm Silva. (Express)

Nice work, Sri.
Highly doubt Milan are letting SES go but if they really were to then obviously we should be all over that.
Don't want Cavani if he's pulling these stunts and for the price he's pegged at, I'd much rather sign 30 CBs tbh.

Okay yeah but everybody knew that he was a panic loan because we lacked numbers. He was never a signing that we wanted to make. We just needed someone.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Sanogo going to Bordeaux apparently, knew he was going there tbh, no way this guy was going to find a PL club, makes no sense. Why would a PL club want him atm? A player who has never proven he can score goals at a high level? would be a waste of time for them.
Sanogo just needs to play games at a decent level to make him a more rounded striker and experianced player. An liga 1 loan will be perfect for him if he plays.

It was a 4 month loan on deadline day when we had no time to do any negotiating. I don't think that Arsene wanted a permanent CM signing because anyone decent would have cost more money than he wanted to spend and you can't get a decent CM on loan at the last second from anywhere.
I honestly don't give a shite about Kim Kallstrom but the failure of his signing was blown too far out of proportion when it was completely obvious that he was only supposed to be a short-term option and his injury was unpredictable.
