Bale is a good player, very good even. i can see why united fans want him, he could improve them by a lot, specially given how effective he is in the last third.

In Madrid though, we already have CR, and so he becomes redundant. we don't need him that badly. we gain more by surrounding CR and Benzema by playmakers like Isco and James. whereas Bale, who is characteristically awful moving to open space for others and holding the ball to create chances, doesn't contribute that way. Actually, he thinks of himself a forward a la CR, and he is pathetic defending and helping out Carvajal.

Not really, i don't need to sell them anything, woodward needs no motivation.

Just saying that the value of a player depends greatly of the environment he is in, unless he is some transcendent talent. So to us madrid fans, Bale is nothing special, given what we have had, and what we have.

To them, in this post Fergie Era, he would be a hero. and as i said, he is a very efficient last third player in terms of goals and assists.

He can be good in the right situation though. He needs space to run, and he's not getting that in any team. When he starts to lose speed though, he'll become a horrible player.

He already begun to struggle in the PL out wide, so AVB moved him central and that's when he truly blew up with his ability to drive and show off his shooting and athleticism.

He never would have got that Madrid move if he stayed outwide.

I agree and I would argue that his production would be slightly better if he was playing not the left.

That's why i am thinking that he would really improve United. They have no player like him and if Van Gaal uses him as a forward as he was trying to play Di Maria, he would be banging goals for them.

Now that Reus has extended the slim chance of Bale to United is out of the window anyway. Uncle Flo ain't selling his € 100M toy so quickly. Even less so without a shiny new replacement.

This isn't entirely accurate. Even in his season before he left Tottenham he played almost exclusively on the left. He just had a ton more freedom to roam because he was the star.



The thing is that he's being played on the right in Madrid and he doesn't have the same free roaming role that he did at Tottenham because of how the team is put together.

This is another reason that I prefer all-world players to be built around rather than gathered on the same team. Bale could be a Ballon d'Or contender on a team in which he is the go-to guy and the team is built around him. Instead he's just a very good player on a team that doesn't suit his style and plays him out of position.

He was used more than twice as much out wide as in the middle, and he still drifted wide from the middle too. Though I agree that with his skillset and physical ability he should be playing as a secondary striker similar to Sterling in Liverpool's run to end the season last year.

Though to be honest when you're complaining about a guy who has 33 goals and 22 assists in less than 60 starts and has come up big in the biggest games I think you should really take a step back and stop whining.

You don't watch our games so you obviously can't make observations that can be taken seriously.  When every single Madrid fan complains about a player adamantly, there's something wrong.  I grant you that Madrid fans often exaggerate.... but the bottom line is that Bale has been our most poor forward this season by quite a distance.  That's relative to Madrid's talent.

In any case, this is all moot.  James is out for 2 months and Jese is still working himself up to shape.  So Bale is the only option on the right for the moment.  What would bench him?  If we lose games and he's the biggest culprit.  He has a few of those this season already.  

Carlo is a political person.  He'll back everyone up as long as the team is getting results regardless of individual form.  If results start to fail, someone will be sacrificed however...  because the circumstances will force him to.

Unlike your criticisms of Liverpool (which are unfounded, and show a lack of actually watching the games) I do watch Real Madrid. If you think that Bale is the biggest reason that you are losing games you should give your head a shake, but that's neither here nor there. I didn't say that Bale was playing all-world at the moment, but Madrid fans are always looking for a scapegoat. Last time it was always Benzema. Khedira and Ozil have had their turns. Fans expect the team to win every game and if they aren't it's got to be somebody's fault (can't ever give credit to the other team).

Bale being in poor form (relative to what he can do) doesn't make him a bad footballer. You could point out a lot of players on that team performing below expectations TBH in their recent string of games (especially against Atletico).

It wasn't just because of Bale you lost, the entire team other than maybe Benzema and Marcelo packed it after the 2nd goal. Of course that doesn't change the fact Bale is crap and has been for a long time, but if you think he's the sole reason you lost and everything will magically change in this game if you played someone else you are sadly mistaken.
