Agree on Frozen. It is to younger generations what Lion was to us.

You will most likely hate it
Not sure about that. Lion King is an all time great. Master piece for all generations.

Pixar aren't really that much of kid films, so I don't count that as magic for kids.

Thought HTTYD was great, really loved it. Not at the level of LEGO Movie though. So it'll probably win.
They didn't watch the LEGO movie, only explanation.
Also... how the hell is Carrell a lead... awful.
nah bruh, HTTYD2 wont win it. Its like 100% sure, watch it going to Big Hero 6. Just like how Wreck it Ralph last year got beaten by a meh like Frozen. Just like frozen, BH6 too has got the Disney label attached to it. So its a sure bet.
btw i havent watched bh6... theres a 8+ rating and all on imdb anyway. so... yea it might not be bad.
Just saw this travesty of a post
In what world is Frozen meh ffs?
I got it wrong. I was meaning Brave which was a meh. These princesses and happily lived ever after stories like tangled, frozen, brave and all, Their names will often get mixed up for me as I am not much into them.
Even still I dont much agree to the fact that frozen was anything brilliant. It was a good film, yep, the Lion King for this generation. Last year in fact, there wasnt much competition for it and it was indeed the best film.

Tonight!
All I want is:
D. Gilroy - Best Original Screenplay (very unlikely)
A.G. Inarritu - Best Director (likely)
Citizenfour - Best Documentary (very likely)

well Gilroy was a farcry and an extreme personal want anyway. Inarritu winning that one as well.
So Birdman and Inarritu doing the double (best picture and director.)
Can't wait when the man does the double double next year with The Revenant

I thought overall many of the speeches were great. Graham Moore did indeed deliver a very emotional speech.
Disappointed that Birdman won Best picture otherwise

Well it was either Birdy or Boyhood, and I wanted Boyhood tbh but I can live with the Birdy at the end of the day.

Iñarittu did a treble though. Won 3
Just what I wanted, amazing film through and through. Happy Boyhood didn't win. Not even close to Linklater's best imo.
Keaton not winning though
Neil Patrick Harris was downright awful. More PG than a Mickey Mouse cartoon.

Re: Oscars 2015
Yeah the speeches were phenomenal overall. Many good ones. Some of the songs/performances as well. The opening was also funny. NPH killing it as always.
Overall a good Oscars. Must say I was a tiny bit surprised with Redmayne winning Best Actor, thought that was a Keaton lock as many people made it out to be, even though I personally still think Gyllenhaal had the best performance last year and others like Redmayne weren't that far off Keaton.

NPH killed it? He almost killed the show, couldn't stand that. The Oscars can't get anything right in regards to hosts.
Loved most speeches, they were great. Most boring host, awful jokes and terible crowd.

Re: Oscars 2015
JK Simmons had the best acting performance of the year imo closely followed by Gyllenhaal. Glad Simmons got his award. Gonna forever feel for Jake. Robbed ffs.
I personally thought Neil Patrick Harris did good. Seth MacFarlane and Hathaway/Franco were so bad a few years ago that they've set the bar for shit way too low imo.
Ellen and NPH have been a breath of fresh air compared to the aforementioned.

Re: Oscars 2015
Jake Gyllenhaal should have been recognized for his performance in Nightcrawler.
I'm pleased American *cough*propaganda*cough* Sniper didn't win but one award.
So happy for Common and John Legend. Much deserved win. Great and emotional performance too.
Birdman got best picture. Deserved.
And the actor who won best actor was well deserved. what a portrayal of Stephen Hawkings.
The host did a good job I felt. That line about Travolta mispronouncing Ben Affleck's name was hilarious, imo.
Not as good as ellen degeneras last year though.

Only loved 2 of the 8 nominees (Whiplash and Birdman), 5 mehs 1 really good.
So happy it won. Mexican directors really making a push, hope this can lead to more diversity, especially for latinos.

Re: Oscars 2015
IMDb wrote:In the three hours I spent with him, he said maybe eight sentences," recalls Redmayne. "I just didn't feel like I could ask him intimate things." Therefore, he found other ways to prepare for the role. He lost about 15 pounds and trained for four months with a dancer to learn how to control his body. He met with 40 ALS patients, kept a chart tracking the order in which Hawking's muscles declined, and stood in front of a mirror for hours on end, contorting his face. Lastly, he remained motionless and hunched over between takes, so much so that an osteopath told him he had altered the alignment of his spine. "I fear I'm a bit of a control freak," Redmayne admits. "I was obsessive. I'm not sure it was healthy."
Redmaye deserved it more than anyone else. Dunno about Gyllenhaal and if he was there then it would have been food for serious thought, but between him and Keaton he deserved it more. He lived the character of Hawking.
And Best actress Juliane Moore had it easy. Havent seen the film. So I am just speculating. Correct me if I am wrong here? Is it spellbinding, her performance as Alice ? I assume its only comparative as there werent anyone who could challenge her properly. Marion Cotillard of course was there and so as Pike, but for respective reasons, an average follower of this can easily assume neither of them would win.
Rest of the awards well deserved I guess apart from big hero 6 perhaps( according to my personal opinion). At the end of the day slightly sad Linklater didnt win, even though Inarittu was equally if not more deserved. Has a soft spot for the great Indie man Linklater.
