Granted he got United back in the top 4 after their Moyeseh era and looking good so far in the PL. It's hardly destroying

I would say Gaspart destroyed Barcelona but Van Gaal did his part nicely.

All i remember is they were bottom half, Rijkaard came in along with Edgar Davids on the playing side( extremely important in the history of Barcelona tbh) steadied the ship till the rest of the season and then Ronaldinho came the following summer.

van gaal can be a maniac at times, but barcelona's destruction that stoichkov is talking about was more of gaspart's fault than it was van gaal's imo

He sanctioned the signing of the most expensive 19 yo in footy this summer. Marital went on to stun us with an incredible debut game then continued scoring, showing he had ice veins with some great finishes. He didn't crumble under pressure and generally looked amazing at n9.

Then in his infinite genius Van Gaal decided to move him to the left or right wing to accommodate for the most overrated player in England. A known hustler and Fatman for living who still pretend he is a good player.

Why isn't he being called out on such BS?

Put yourself in his shoes. Rooney is getting paid 300 a week, is the captain and is the senior player in the locker room. WHat do you think would happen if he benches him. I think he has at least learnt from past falling out. Martial is our only good player in 1 vs 1s unfortunately and he always drifts out too the flanks. All his good goals where scored from win runs not CF runs...

A manager who's afraid of benching some player for fear for his job or the repercussions thererin isn't a manager and he should be ashamed of himself.

If somebody tells you who to pick:

1. Tell them you don't agree and it's either your way or the highway.

2. If they don't agree with you. Resign dammit.

Besides, I don't think LVG is forced to use Rooney. He's the most stubborn, megalomaniacal dictator in world football. I have seen enough nonsense from him to know that this his doing.

Don't be surprised if you see DDG playing as a CF.

I highly doubt this. It's not like he's been a different person since he moved to Utd, the incident with Valdes is a perfect example.

If Van Gaal wanted to bench Rooney he would. I think it has more to do with the other part of your post, that he simply lacks quality wingers and is trying to compensate by putting Martial there.

Watched quite a bit of Man U recently due to Martial...  my view is this:  There's no midfield creativity at all (making long passes isn't enough despite what EPL pundits say lol).  It's basically up to the 3 strikers to make something out of nothing.  Schweini is by far the most gifted CM technically that they have, which should tell you a lot given the stage of his career.  

That would be ok if you had 3 dynamic forwards... but you only have one in Martial.  Rooney is meh, Dupay is meh, Mata is meh...  and Lingard (whom i like) is just not seasoned enoughand doesn't have overwhelming talent to make for it like Martial.  So Man u IS RELYING on a 19 yo and 22 yo to carry the attack.  That's just not reasonable.

You know who would be great (although i want him for Madrid).... Aubameyang.  Can you imagine the speed on the attack with Martial, Auba and Lingard.  The defense will be forced to step back and will open room for the CMs.

on the midfield. I don't know why he hasn't used 4-3-3 this year, we looked our best last season playing it, and now have the midfield depth to do it. and let's not disrespect Herrera who is wonderful every time he plays pretty much, but Van Gaal loves to play a pivot of 2 similar players right now 2 holding players instead of the adventurous Herrera (who is injured right now)

and I said the same thing about Aubameyang in his thread, he would be perfect for us exactly what we need up the middle. Martial and him would stretch defences with there pace and runs.

Rooney and Mata need to go, they don't fit the system...sucks too because Mata is such a wonderful personality and a great player just not in this system. I can see what Van Gaal is trying to do with us, but we just still don't have the personnel to do it correctly, there is to many people coming towards the ball rather then making runs and moving off it

Creativity goes out of the window when rooney plays in a midfield 3 (as a no.10). No surprise hence if it looks as if Bastian is the most attack minded and 'technical' cm of the lot,

But the problem with your assessment is that you are discounting the performances of our best midfielder, best 'technical' cm we have got, Ander. But then again, he has hardly featured this season, so cant blame you tbf. And it does seem like rooney's been playing in that position forever.
When herrera has featured more often than not he has provided creative sparks, the Everton away game for instance.
